CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: 2011-12:Scored first professional goal and point when he netted the eventual game-winning goal for the Monsters at home over Toronto on 10/28/11… Had a goal and an assist in a Monsters 5-2 home win over San Antonio on 11/10/11 for his first professional multi-point game… On 11/26/11, scored game-winner with :20 left to secure a Monsters 5-4 road win in Hershey, capping off a two-game stretch in which he had two goals and three assists… Over six games leading up to his first NHL call-up on 12/8/11, Malone scored twice and added seven assists, as the Monsters were 4-2-0-0 between 11/25/11 and 12/5/11… Logged 10:12 of ice time in his NHL debut; a Colorado 4-1 loss in Edmonton… Began a two-game assist streak with his first NHL point, an assist, in Colorado’s 3-2 home shootout win over Philadelphia, 12/19/11… Pieced together nine multi-point games in his first professional season; all in the AHL, and finished second on the Monsters in assists (25) and points (36)… 2010-11: Helped University of North Dakota to a WCHA regular season and playoff title, and frozen four berth, in senior season… Led Sioux with 108 PIM’s and finished fifth on team in points (40)… Won 57.7% of faceoffs in senior season; the 4th best mark in UND history… Named to ’10-11 WCHA all-academic team… Signed entry-level contract with Colorado Avalanche on 4/13/11 and reported to Lake Erie, appearing in three playoff games, tallying one assist… 2009-10: Played all 43 games during junior season at North Dakota… Led Sioux with 102 PIM’s… Finished second on team, winning 57.3% of faceoffs… 2008-09: Finished second on team with 75 PIM’s during sophomore season at North Dakota… Finished third on Sioux in faceoff percentage (57.1%), and helped the Sioux advance to the Frozen Four during freshman season… 2006-07: Shared team lead with four game-winning goals playing for Sioux Falls (USHL)… Other: Uncle, Greg Malone, played 11 seasons in the NHL from 1976-87… Cousin, Ryan Malone, also plays in NHL
