Taylor Vause (C)
Enters his second full professional season in 2013-14. Undrafted, Vause signed an ATO with Texas on March 19, 2012 and made his pro and AHL debut with the Stars that same night at home against Abbotsford. He scored his first pro point with a goal on March 25, 2012 in a 4-2 win at Toronto, but broke his foot blocking a shot in his fifth game with the Stars on March 29, 2012 against Hamilton and missed the rest of the 2011-12 season. Vause began the 2012-13 season with Texas on a PTO, signing a second PTO on December 12, 2012 and then signed a standard AHL contract on February 15, 2013, staying on the Starsâ€™ roster the entire year. He made his Calder Cup Playoff debut on April 26, 2013 in Game 1 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals at Milwaukee and played in three total games during the 2013 post season. Vause played parts of five seasons of major junior hockey with the Swift Current Broncos of the Western Hockey League. During his fifth and final season with the Broncos (2011-12), he was the team captain and put up career highs, leading the team in goals (37), assists (46) and points (83). In 273 career WHL games Vause scored 190 points (79 goals, 111 assists) and had 71 penalty minutes. He is a type-1 diabetic, first diagnosed with the disease during his first year with Swift Current.
