Biography
Career Notes
Enters his first full professional season in 2012-13. He was drafted by Dallas in the fifth round (128th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Smith signed a two-year entry level contract with Dallas on 3/21/12 and made his pro and AHL debut with Texas on 3/23/12 at Oklahoma City; he recorded his first career pro and AHL point with one assist on 3/29/12 against Hamilton. Smith completed his senior season for Colgate University of the ECAC in 2011-12, posting career highs in goals (36) and points (57); he led the nation in shorthanded goals (6) and was third in the NCAA in points. He was named 2011-12 ECAC Hockey MVP and to the ECAC Hockey First Team, a Hobey Baker finalist and was named a First Team All-American.
