Career Notes

Enters his ninth professional season, his second in North America, in 2013-14. Nilstorp signed a one-year two way contract with Dallas on June 5, 2012 and made his North American debut with the Texas Stars on October 13, 2012 at San Antonio, stopping 18-of-19 shots to record his first career AHL victory. He recorded his first career AHL point with an assist on November 11, 2012 in a win at Houston and made 21 saves to record his first career AHL shutout on November 15, 2012 vs. San Antonio. Nilstorp recorded his second consecutive shutout with 22 saves and stopping 8-of-9 shootout attempts in a 1-0 win over Charlotte on November 17, 2012, but had his shutout streak snapped at 154:56 on November 21, 2012 vs. Oklahoma City, falling 8:29 short of breaking Todd Ford’s franchise record. He was recalled to Dallas on January 13, 2013 at the end of the NHL lockout and made his NHL debut with the Stars on January 20, 2013 at Minnesota. Nilstorp recorded his first career NHL victory with 31 saves in a 3-1 win on February 23, 2013 vs. San Jose. He made his Calder Cup Playoff debut on April 26, 2013 at Milwaukee in a 3-2 overtime win in Game 1 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals. Nilstorp recorded the first playoff shutout in team history with 21 saves in a 2-0 win over Milwaukee in Game 3 on May 1, 2013. He started all nine of the Stars’ 2031 playoff games, helping them reach the Western Conference Semifinals before losing to Oklahoma City in five games. A free-agent this summer, Nilstorp re-signed with Dallas on a new a one-year, two-way contract on June 17, 2013. He grew up playing for his hometown club, Malmö Redhawks, and twice received a J20 SM Silver Medal (2001-02 & 2003-04). Nilstorp has appeared in 125 career games in the Swedish Elitserien (SEL), now called the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). He helped Färjestads BK win the 2011 Le Mat Trophy as the champions of the Elitserien. During the 2011 SEL playoffs Nilstorp recorded a .944 save percentage and a 1.60 goals-against average in nine appearances. He represented Team Sweden at the 2012 IIHF World Championships hosted by Sweden and Finland, but did not play in any games. Nilstorp earned the best save percentage award in the AllSvenskan in 2008-09, helping Rögle BK to earn promotion into the Elitserien.
