Stortini signs with Philadelphia

The Philadelphia Flyers, parent club of the AHL's Lehigh Valley Phantoms, have signed unrestricted free-agent forward Zack Stortini to a one-year, two-way contract.

Stortini, 28, spent the 2013-14 season with the Norfolk Admirals, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, after signing with the Ducks last summer. In 73 games with Norfolk, Stortini recorded four goals and five assists for nine points to go along with a league-leading 299 penalty minutes.

Stortini was drafted by Edmonton in the third round (94th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft and won a Calder Cup with the Hamilton Bulldogs in 2007. He made his NHL debut with the Oilers in 2007 and has gone on to play 257 NHL games with Edmonton and Nashville, totaling 14 goals and 27 assists for 41 points along with 725 PIM.

In 364 career AHL games, Stortini has posted 30 goals and 33 assists for 63 points along with 1,216 PIM.
