Houston broke through for a pair of third-period goals and took a 2-0 road win over San Antonio on Sunday at the AT&T Center.
Aeros goaltender Anton Khudobin earned the shutout, stopping all 28 shots sent his way.
The game was scoreless until the 4:39 mark of the third period, when Andy Hilbert netted his second AHL goal of the campaign. Colton Gillies and Cody Almond picked up the assists.
Jean-Michel Daoust added an unassisted empty-net marker in the closing minute for Houston, which swept a pair of games from the Rampage on the weekend.
ROCHESTER 3, SYRACUSE 0
Rookie goaltender Alexander Salak made 34 saves for his first shutout of the season as Rochester posted a 3-0 win over visiting Syracuse on Sunday at the Blue Cross Arena.
Salak stopped 13 shots in the first period, six in the second, and 15 in the third period and improved to 5-0-0 on the season.
Graham Mink, Jamie Johnson, and Shawn Matthias scored a goal apiece for the Americans, and Mike York chipped in a pair of assists.
The Amerks have now won seven straight games and improved to 8-1-1-0 on the young season.
HARTFORD 4, WORCESTER 3
Evgeny Grachev and Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau each scored twice as Hartford cooled off Worcester with a 4-3 win over the Sharks at the XL Center on Sunday.
Dane Byers and defenseman Corey Potter each posted a pair of assists for the Wolf Pack, and goaltender Miika Wiikman stopped 32 of 35 shots in the winning effort.
Hartford finished with back-to-back wins at home on the weekend after dropping a 3-2 decision at Adirondack on Friday.
T.J. Trevelyan scored twice and Andrew Desjardins added one score for the Sharks, whose three-game winning streak came to an end.
BRIDGEPORT 4, ALBANY 1
Justin DiBenedetto registered two goals and an assist to lead Bridgeport to a 2-1 win over visiting Albany on Sunday at the Arena at Harbor Yard.
Sean Bentivoglio and Tomas Marcinko also scored for the Sound Tigers, who won their second straight game on the heels of a four-game losing skid.
Bridgeport goaltender Nathan Lawson earned the victory with 36 saves on 37 shots in net.
Nick Dodge netted the lone goal for the River Rats.
SPRINGFIELD 4, LOWELL 2
Chris Minard netted a hat trick to lead Springfield to a 4-2 road win over Lowell on Sunday at Tsongas Arena.
Liam Reddox also scored for the Falcons, who captured their first road victory of the season after starting 0-4-1-0 away from the MassMutual Center.
Charles Linglet chipped in a pair of assists, and goaltender Aaron Sorochan stopped 29 of 31 shots in the winning effort.
Brad Snetsinger and Stephen Gionta lit the lamp for the Devils.
GRAND RAPIDS 6, ABBOTSFORD 1
Grand Rapids completed a perfect home opening weekend with a 6-1 win over Abbotsford on Sunday at Van Andel Arena.
Jamie Tardif netted a hat trick for the Griffins, and Kris Newbury posted a goal and two assists in the winning effort.
John Vigilante and Jeremy Williams added goals in the win, while Michael Nylander and defenseman Jakub Kindl each chipped in a pair of assists.
Grand Rapids goaltender Daniel Larsson picked up the victory with 41 saves on 42 shots in net.
Heat forward Carsen Germyn broke up Larsson’s shutout bid with a power play goal at 14:28 of the third period.
HERSHEY 3, PORTLAND 2
Steve Pinizzotto’s shorthanded goal at 12:35 of the third period broke a 2-2 tie and lifted Hershey to a 3-2 win over visiting Portland on Sunday at the Giant Center.
Francois Bouchard and Andrew Gordon also scored for the Bears, and goaltender Jason Bacashihua secured the victory with 21 saves on 23 shots.
Jeff Cowan and Philip Gogulla netted goals for the Pirates, who dropped to 3-7-0-0 on the season.
