The St. Louis Blues’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Chicago Wolves, announced they have named Darryl Sydor and Daniel Tkaczuk as assistant coaches.
Sydor, 44, has spent the last five seasons as an assistant coach for the Minnesota Wild. The Wild posted a 188-143-45 regular season record during his tenure, while they earned Stanley Cup Playoff berths each of the last four years. Sydor began his coaching career with the AHL’s Houston Aeros in 2010-11.
Prior to becoming a coach, the Edmonton, Alberta, native enjoyed a 19-year NHL career that included All-Star Game appearances in 1998 and 1999. Sydor accumulated 98 goals and 409 assists in 1,291 career regular season games between stints with Los Angles, Dallas, Columbus, Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh and St. Louis. The Edmonton, Alberta native was a two-time Stanley Cup Champion (Dallas – 1999, Tampa Bay – 2004), while he made five appearances in the Stanley Cup Final overall (Los Angeles – 1993, Dallas – 2000, Pittsburgh – 2008).
Tkaczuk, 37, has coached in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) for the last four seasons. He served as associate coach for Kitchener last season, helping the Rangers reach the second round of the OHL playoffs. From 2012 to 2015, Tkaczuk served as an assistant coach for the Owen Sound Attack. During his playing career, the Toronto, Ontario, native posted four goals and seven assists in 19 NHL regular season, while he collected 59 goals and 109 assists in 286 career AHL regular season games.
