Tigers, Rats square off tonight

The race for the Calder Cup Playoffs has heated up and it’s a rat race of sorts. The Bridgeport Sound Tigers and the East Division rival Albany River Rats will face off in a big game tonight at 7:30 p.m. (ET) at the Arena at Harbor Yard.

The Sound Tigers hold a seven-point lead on the River Rats for the fourth and final playoff spot in the East Division. This is the first of five remaining games between the Sound Tigers and River Rats and the third meeting of the season. Albany leads the season series, 2-1, but the Sound Tigers won the most recent clash, 7-4 in Albany on Jan. 5.

Red-hot since that early-January victory in the Capital District, the Sound Tigers are 14-5-0-1 in calendar year 2007 and are riding an eight-game home winning streak. The Sound Tigers tied their longest home winning streak in franchise history with a 1-0 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Sunday

It’s the only game on the Tuesday night schedule in the AHL. Don’t miss any of the action live on our real-time scoreboard, or check out B2 Networks’ live video webcasts on your computer, cell phone or PDA.
