Upshall lifts Admirals past Marlies in OT

Milwaukee forward Scottie Upshall was twice the hero on Sunday scoring both the game-tying goal and the game winner in overtime to lead the Admirals to a 4-3 win over the Toronto Marlies.

Upshall tied the game at four with 4:07 remaining in the third period, and followed up with the game winner 1:45 into the overtime period. Both goals were power play goals.

The Admirals took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission, helped by a pair of goals by Corey Hessler and Chris Durno that were scored 34 seconds apart. Hessler’s goal was his first career AHL goal.

Bates Battaglia scored two goals in the losing effort for the Marlies. John Pohl, who was selected the 2006 PlanetUSA AHL All-Star team, assisted on all three Toronto goals.

Milwaukee goaltender Pekka Rinne, also selected to the PlanetUSA All-Star squad, made 27 saves on 30 shots to pick up his 17th win of the season.

Jeremy Colliton scored 17 seconds into the overtime period to lift Bridgeport to a 3-2 victory over Lowell… Yanick Lehoux and Brad Smyth each scored a pair of goals and netminder Jason LaBarbera picked up his first win of the season as Manchester beat Providence 4-3… Matt Keith and Carl Corazzini each had a goal and an assist in Norfolk’s 4-2 win over Hershey… Kirby Law picked up a goal and two assists and Erik Westrum tallied a goal and an assist in Houston’s 4-1 win over San Antonio; Law and Westrum are tied for the League lead in points with 59 after Sunday’s action… Lukas Kaspar scored two goals and added an assist in Cleveland’s 6-3 victory over Chicago… Goaltender Jeff Deslauriers stopped 34 of 35 shots to pick up the win as Hamilton beat Rochester 3-1.
