Will named GM in Worcester

Sharks Sports & Entertainment (SSE) announced today that Joe Will has been appointed as the general manager of the Worcester Sharks overseeing the hockey operations, and Jon Gustafson has been promoted to vice president responsible for Worcester Sharks business operations and Sharks Ice centers.

Will reports directly to San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson and will continue to serve as assistant general manager in San Jose. The native of Bloomington, Minn., has been with the Sharks organization since the team’s inception in 1990.

Wayne Thomas will continue his role as vice president and assistant general manager in San Jose. Worcester head coach Roy Sommer and his staff will remain in place.

Gustafson will oversee all aspects of Worcester’s business operations and report to Jim Goddard, SSE’s executive vice president of business and building operations.

Gustafson will also continue to serve as general manager of the Sharks Ice family of ice rinks in the San Francisco Bay Area, all operated by SSE – a position he has held since 2000.

John Tortora, chief operating officer of SSE, will continue to serve as the governor of the Worcester Sharks to the AHL with Gustafson and Will serving as alternate governors.
