Wiseman named Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Albany Devils left wing Chad Wiseman has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Mar. 13, 2011. Wiseman scored six goals in four games last week, helping the Devils to a 4-0-0-0 record and etching his name in the AHL record books in the process.

Wiseman’s week began with a historic flurry on Wednesday night. With Albany trailing Bridgeport, 4-1, Wiseman scored four times in the final 9:35 of regulation, including the game-winner with 31.6 seconds to play, as the Devils rallied for a 5-4 victory; the four goals in one period tied an AHL record, accomplished by only six other players in the league’s 75-year history. Wiseman came back with another goal in Albany’s 2-1 win at Adirondack on Friday night, and later finished the week by netting the game-winner in a 4-1 victory over Syracuse on Sunday.

In recognition of his achievement, Wiseman will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Devils home game.

Wiseman, whose six-goal week matched his previous output for the season, now has 12 goals and 20 assists for 32 points in 37 games for Albany in 2010-11. A 10th-year pro from Burlington, Ont., Wiseman has totaled 159 goals and 228 assists for 387 points in 519 career AHL matches with Albany/Lowell, Springfield, Hershey, Hartford and Cleveland. The former draft pick of the San Jose Sharks has also appeared in nine career NHL contests with San Jose and the N.Y. Rangers.
