Wolf Pack’s Dawes named Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.
… The American Hockey League announced today that Hartford Wolf Pack left wing Nigel Dawes has been named the Rbk/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending December 9, 2007. Dawes recorded three goals and five assists for eight points in three games for the Wolf Pack last week.

After being held off the scoresheet in Wednesday’s 4-3 shootout loss at Providence, Dawes scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in a 3-1 win over Lowell on Friday night. Then in Worcester on Saturday, Dawes set a Wolf Pack regular-season franchise record with six points, including two goals and four assists, to pace Hartford to a 7-1 victory over the Sharks.

In recognition of his achievement, Dawes will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Wolf Pack home game.

Dawes has lit up the American Hockey League since his return from the NHL on Nov. 20, and now has 24 points (nine goals, 15 assists) and a plus-8 rating in just 12 games with Hartford in 2007-08. In 158 career AHL contests, all with Hartford, Dawes has totaled 71 goals and 80 assists for 151 points. The 22-year-old Winnipeg native has also skated in 16 National Hockey League games with the New York Rangers this season, registering four goals and one assist.
