Members of the Chicago Wolves alumni and the Chicago Blackhawks alumni will face off in the Breslin Cup at the Allstate Arena on Fri., June 10, at 7 p.m.
This landmark event will showcase legendary Chicago hockey players to benefit the Tim Breslin Family Trust.
Breslin, who was one of the first three players signed by the Wolves in 1994, passed away on Feb. 9 due to complications from appendiceal cancer, which is a malignancy of the appendix. He is survived by his wife Jami, and three children: Shane, Paige and Chase.
Tickets for the event are $20 and can be purchased by calling Ticketmaster at 312-559-1212, at any Ticketmaster Ticket Outlet, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at the Allstate Arena Box Office. Glass seat tickets are available for $300 and can only be purchased at the box office. These seats include access to an exclusive VIP party after the game.
Breslin, an Addison, Ill., native and Driscoll Catholic High School graduate played five seasons with the Wolves, registering 37 goals, 82 assists, 119 points and 298 penalty minutes in 330 games from 1994-99, and was a member of Chicago’s 1998 Turner Cup championship team. Breslin also received the I. John Snider Trophy as the IHL’s Man of the Year following the 1996-97 season for his outstanding community service.
The Wolves have been recognizing Breslin this season by wearing shamrock-shaped helmet stickers bearing his initials.
The Wolves alumni squad will feature current Wolves head coach John Anderson, general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff, assistant coach Wendell Young, captain Steve Maltais, Chicago native and Colorado Avalanche assistant coach Tony Granato, St. Louis Blues center Doug Weight and 1980 U.S. Olympic gold medal winner Dave Silk.
The Blackhawks alumni team is highlighted by Wolves color analyst Billy Gardner, current Wolves assistant general manager Gene Ubriaco, Chicago native and NHL defenseman Chris Chelios, Chicago native and Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Ed Olczyk, ESPN analyst Darren Pang, San Jose Sharks executive vice president and general manager Doug Wilson and Hockey Hall of Famer Denis Savard.
