Wolves hold off Amerks to snap four-game skid

Chicago jumped out to a 3-0 first-period lead and staved off Rochester’s comeback attempt to take a 5-3 win over the Americans on Thursday at the Allstate Arena. Joey Crabb (pictured) started the scoring just 1:56 after the opening face-off, and five different Wolves skaters tallied goals on the night. The win snapped Chicago’s season-high four-game losing skid.

Brian Fahey and Colin Stuart also scored in the first period for the Wolves. Joel Kwiatkowski followed with a second-period tally, which gave the Wolves a 4-2 lead at the time after Rochester had closed the gap to one goal.

Brett Sterling rounded out the game’s scoring with an empty-netter in the final stanza, increasing his team lead in goals to 14 on the season (14-8-22).

Chicago’s Jason Krog finished with a game-high three assists, and he now has a point in nine of his last 10 games (3-12-15).

David Brine scored a pair of goals for the Amerks, and Patrick Kaleta factored into all three of the club’s goals, scoring one and assisting on both of Brine’s markers.

Rochester, which has now lost four consecutive games, plays at Rockford on Friday and in Peoria on Saturday.

Chicago goaltender Ondrej Pavelec picked up the victory with 24 saves on 27 shots.
