Wolves outlast Stars in Game 3

Brett Sterling’s goal with 9:59 remaining in the third period snapped a 2-2 tie and sent Chicago on its way to a 5-3 victory over Iowa in Game 3 of the West Division Finals on Sunday evening in Des Moines.

Sterling’s goal was his second of the series and fifth of the postseason following a 55-goal regular season.

Darren Haydar scored twice and added an assist, giving him seven points in the last two games and a league-leading 14 points during the 2007 Calder Cup Playoffs. Niko Dimitrakos added a goal and an assist, and Jordan LaVallee netted his third goal of the series for the Wolves.

Junior Lessard, Joel Lundqvist and Matt DeMarchi each had a goal and an assist for the Stars, who lost their first home game of these playoffs.

Chicago takes a 2-1 series lead into Tuesday’s Game 4.
