The Chicago Wolves announced Wednesday that they have signed forwards Shane Harper and Terry Broadhurst and defensemen Mathieu Brodeur and Colten Hayes to contracts for the 2014-15 season.
Harper suited up for 63 games in his first year with the Wolves in 2013-14, finishing the campaign fourth on the team in goals (13) and plus/minus rating (+19) and fifth in points (33), all career highs. Skating in his first American Hockey League postseason, the right wing potted two goals and three assists in nine playoff games.
Harper has skated in 206 career AHL games with Chicago and Adirondack, recording 33 goals and 41 assists for 74 points. The 25-year-old native of Valencia, Calif., played five seasons of junior hockey (2005-10) with Everett in the Western Hockey League.
Broadhurst is coming off a career year with the Rockford IceHogs in which he posted 44 points (16 goals, 28 assists) in 73 games with a plus-10 rating. His numbers placed him fourth on the team in both assists and points, and he sat fifth in goals and plus/minus rating.
The 25-year-old Orland Park, Ill., native has collected 21 goals and 38 assists for 59 points in 112 career AHL games, all with Rockford. He played three seasons at the University of Nebraska-Omaha (2009-12).
Brodeur joins the Wolves from the Phoenix Coyotes organization, including the last three seasons with the AHL’s Portland Pirates. In 2013-14, Brodeur tallied three goals and nine assists for 12 points in 62 games with the Pirates.
A 24-year-old native of Montreal, Brodeur has totaled eight goals and 30 assists for 38 points in 176 career AHL contests with Portland and San Antonio. He was a third-round draft choice by the Coyotes in 2008.
Hayes, 24, will be looking to make his AHL debut in 2014-15 after participating in the Wolves’ training camp last season. He played 57 games with Missouri (CHL) in 2013-14, recording five goals and 16 assists for 21 points along with 100 penalty minutes and a team-best plus-31 rating.
Hayes, a native of Maple Ridge, B.C., has played three pro seasons in the CHL and ECHL after playing Junior "A" hockey in the British Columbia Hockey League and the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
