The Atlanta Thrashers got goals from 2007 AHL All-Stars Alexandre Giroux, Darren Haydar and Brett Sterling in their 5-3 NHL preseason loss at Nashville on Thursday night.

Giroux, Haydar and Sterling were three of the AHL’s four 40-goal scorers during the 2006-07 season, combining for 138 goals and 289 points among them. Haydar won the league’s scoring title and was named most valuable player, while Sterling was tabbed as the AHL’s outstanding rookie last season.

Capitalizing on a chance to evaluate players, Thrashers head coach Bob Hartley dressed several skaters who spent most of the 2006-07 season with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves, including Jason Krog, Kevin Doell, Boris Valabik, Colin Stuart, Jordan LaVallee and 2007 Second Team AHL All-Star defenseman Nathan Oystrick.

Pekka Rinne stopped 15 of 16 shots in 28 minutes of work to earn the win for the Predators. Rinne ranked sixth in the AHL last season with a 2.34 goals-against average while going 15-7-6 in 29 appearances for Milwaukee.
