Admirals, Penguins begin Finals countdown

The Milwaukee Admirals and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will battle in the Calder Cup 2004 Final beginning Tuesday night at the Bradley Center in downtown Milwaukee.

The Penguins reached their second championship series in four years with Saturday’s Game 7 overtime victory in Hartford, clinching the Eastern Conference crown. Milwaukee took care of Rochester in five games to wrap up the Western Conference title.

The Admirals finished first overall in the entire AHL during the regular season, setting the stage for what would be a most impressive run to the Calder Cup for Wilkes-Barre, which has already ousted Bridgeport (fourth overall), Philadelphia (third) and Hartford (second) this postseason.

Game 1 faces off at 8:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, followed by Game 2 the next night. The series shifts to the Wachovia Arena for the next three contests, Friday, Sunday and Monday.

Games 6 and 7, if necessary, would be back in Milwaukee on June 11 and 12.
