Admirals sign Donovan to AHL pact

The Milwaukee Admirals announced that the team has signed defenseman Matt Donovan to an American Hockey League contract for the 2018-19 season.

Donovan returns to North American after two seasons with Frolunda of the Swedish Hockey League, where he totaled 42 points in 102 contests.

A native of Edmond, Okla., Donovan has played 253 games in the AHL with Bridgeport and Rochester, totaling 40 goals and 110 assists for 150 points. Donovan was named to the AHL All-Rookie Team in 2011-12, and tied for the AHL lead in scoring among defensemen with 48 points in 2012-13.

A fourth-round draft pick by the New York Islanders in 2008, Donovan has skated in 67 career NHL games, recording two goals and 17 assists for 19 points.
