The Houston Aeros will use the original “Bomber” as their primary logo beginning in the 2006-07 regular season, the team announced Tuesday at a Calder Cup Playoffs kickoff event.
Goaltender Josh Harding and special assistant to hockey Cam Stewart were on hand to model the new sweaters.
The Aeros will continue to use their current logo for the post-season, and it will also remain an alternate/third jersey in 2006-07. The team’s color scheme will remain red, green, gold and white, and “The Bomber” has been modified slightly to fit those standards.
“We have come full circle with the restoration of ‘The Bomber’ on the Aeros jerseys for 2006-07,” said Aeros team president Tom Garrity. “By keeping the green, red and gold color scheme of our parent club Minnesota Wild, we show our proud affiliation. But we thought our fans would also enjoy the tradition of our championship past."
Donning “The Bomber”, the Aeros won two league championships, including the Calder Cup in 2003.
