The Chops (5-3-0-0) come into the game two points ahead of the Aeros (4-3-0-0) in the West Division standings. An Aeros victory in regulation tonight would put the teams in a three-way tie with Chicago for second place in the division.
Houston’s current three-game losing streak (overall and road) ties last year’s longest such stretch. Tonight marks the first of six Aeros games played on Tuesday nights this season. During the 2007-08 campaign Houston fared well on Tuesdays with a record of 6-2-0.
The only other time the Aeros started the season 4-0-0-0 was in 2002-03, when the team started 8-0-0-0 for 16 points. The 2002-03 club tallied 25 points in the first 14 games, missing only three possible points, and eventually won the Calder Cup. The 2008-09 Aeros were the only team remaining in the American Hockey League with a perfect record before three straight losses over the weekend.
Houston takes on Iowa beginning at 8:05 p.m. ET, and you can watch the action on your computer with AHL Live.
