Agostino named Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Providence Bruins forward Kenny Agostino has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 15, 2017.

Agostino had a hand in every one of the Bruins’ goals last week, scoring twice and adding three assists in two games.

On Friday night, Agostino netted his first goal of the season and dished out two primary assists to help Providence to a 3-2 victory over Springfield. Then on Saturday, he scored again and recorded another assist in a 3-2 loss to Toronto.

The reigning AHL scoring champion and last year’s Most Valuable Player, Agostino has registered two goals and five assists for seven points in his first three games of the 2017-18 season for Providence. A free-agent signing by the Boston Bruins on July 1, 2017, Agostino posted 83 points in 65 games for the Chicago Wolves last season, and now has 64 goals and 126 assists for 190 points in 200 career AHL contests with Providence, Chicago, Stockton and Adirondack. The 25-year-old native of Morristown, N.J., was originally a 2010 draft choice by the Pittsburgh Penguins and has skated in 17 career NHL games with Calgary and St. Louis, notching two goals and three assists.

In recognition of his achievement, Agostino will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Bruins home game.
