AHL All-Star jersey charity auction underway

From now until February 15, you can bid on the warm-up jerseys worn by this year’s AHL All-Stars during the pre-game warmup prior to Wednesday night’s 2006 AHL All-Star Game at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg.

The auction will benefit AHL Charities, including the Ace Bailey Children’s Fund.

The American Hockey League-MeiGray Group Game-Worn Jersey Program was introduced for the 2005-06 season. Collectors have already pre-ordered more than 500 game-worn jerseys worn by the 25 program clubs during the first half of the regular season, and many more are available for order at www.meigray.com.

The 2005-06 AHL-MGG Game-Worn Jersey Program kicked off its auction season in October of 2005 with the AHL’s Captains’ Jerseys Auction to benefit the American Red Cross. The captain or alternate captain of all 27 teams wore a special jersey with an American Red Cross patch in one game for this worthy cause. This game-worn jersey charity auction was part of a league-wide initiative by the American Hockey League and The MeiGray Group designed to raise funds and heighten awareness in the wake of the hurricanes that struck the Southern United States. The American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund enables the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to those affected by the recent hurricanes.

AHL-MGG’s auction of the warm-up jerseys from the 2006 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic benefits AHL Charities, including the Ace Bailey Children’s Fund. The jerseys worn during the first period of the 2006 AHL All-Star Classic, pucks used during the 2006 All-Star Classic and Skills Competition, and Vintage All-Star Classic jerseys worn from 1995-2004 will also be auctioned.

Additionally, AHL-MGG will offer jerseys worn and pucks used during the Calder Cup Finals in June. Be sure to check www.meigray.com throughout the season for program details, and to order the game-worn jersey of your favorite AHL player.
