AHL announces suspension

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League today announced that former Albany Devils left wing Stefan Matteau has been suspended for two (2) games as a consequence of an illegal check to the head of an opponent in a game at Bridgeport on Feb. 28.

Matteau was suspended under the provisions of AHL Rule 28.1 (supplementary discipline).

Matteau, who was acquired by the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens on Monday, will miss the next two games for which he is active on an AHL club roster.
