AHL announces suspensions

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League today announced that Norfolk Admirals forward Shawn Thornton has been suspended for two (2) regular-season games as a result of his actions during Sunday’s AHL game vs. the Philadelphia Phantoms.

Thornton will miss Norfolk’s games on Wednesday (Apr. 12) and Friday (Apr. 14), both vs. Binghamton.

The AHL also announced that Philadelphia Phantoms forward Jim Campbell has been suspended for one (1) regular-season game as a result of his actions during Saturday’s AHL game vs. the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Campbell served his suspension on Sunday, sitting out Philadelphia’s game vs. Norfolk, and is eligible to return immediately.

The AHL also announced that Grand Rapids right wing Darryl Bootland and Rochester Americans right wing Greg Jacina have each been suspended for one (1) regular-season game as a result of an accumulation of game misconducts, stemming from the game between the teams on Sunday, Apr. 9.

Bootland will miss the Griffins’ game on Friday (Apr. 14) vs. San Antonio, and Jacina will miss the Americans’ game on Friday (Apr. 14) vs. Syracuse.
