The American Hockey League announced today that Syracuse Crunch center Alexander Svitov has been suspended for five (5) regular season games as a result of receiving a game misconduct penalty for abuse of an official in a January 14, 2005 AHL game versus Cleveland.
Cleveland Barons defenseman Christian Ehrhoff has been suspended for one (1) regular season game as a result of receiving a match penalty in the same AHL game.
Both Svitov and Ehrhoff missed the game on Sat., Jan. 15 between Cleveland and Syracuse.
In addition, Svitov will also miss Syracuse’s next four regular season games; Fri., Jan. 21 versus St. John’s; Sat., Jan. 22 versus Rochester; Wed., Jan. 26 at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Fri., Jan. 28 at Hamilton.
The AHL also announced that Binghamton Senators defenseman Andy Hedlund has been suspended for three (3) regular season games as a result of his actions in a January 12 AHL game in Philadelphia.
Hedlund will miss Binghamton’s next three (3) regular season games; Fri., Jan. 21 versus Manchester; Sat., Jan. 22 versus St. John’s (at Ottawa) and Sun., Jan. 23 at Hershey.
