Worcester opens up a busy AHL weekend by hosting Bridgeport in a Veterans’ Day matinee at the DCU Center… The Sharks, who have played eight games over the first 35 days of the season, will play nine games in 16 days beginning this afternoon… The Sharks are 4-2-0-2 but are winless in their last three outings (0-2-0-1), all at home… In the teams’ only previous meeting this season (Oct. 28), Worcester defeated the Sound Tigers, 3-2, on an overtime goal by Sean Sullivan… Bridgeport, opening a four-game road stretch, has played seven consecutive one-goal games (4-2-1-0)… David Ullstrom has 7-2-9 in his last nine games for Bridgeport.

Adirondack and Syracuse tangle in Glens Falls tonight in their second meeting of the season… The Crunch knocked off the Phantoms 6-2 back on Oct. 15, one of three regulation losses for Adirondack this season (7-3-0-1)… Jonathon Kalinski made his season debut for Adirondack last Friday and scored the winning goal in a 2-1 victory at Springfield… Former Phantom Patrick Maroon (5-8-13) is tied with Dan Sexton (4-9-13) for the Crunch team scoring lead… Sexton had 2-7-9 in two games last week and was named Reebok/AHL Player of the Week.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton brings two seven-game winning streaks — one on the road, and one overall — into Giant Center to meet the rival Hershey Bears tonight… The Penguins have also won their last six trips into the Bears’ den, including a 3-1 decision back on Oct. 22… Ben Street is coming off a three-point effort (1-2-3) in Wednesday’s 4-2 Wilkes-Barre win in Norfolk… Brad Thiessen made 19 saves in a 4-0 shutout of Hershey last Friday night… The Bears are coming off a 3-0 victory over Binghamton on Wednesday, with Braden Holtby needing just 15 saves for the win.

After a quick one-game return home, Norfolk heads back on the road to begin a four-game swing in Albany tonight… The Admirals, who had played seven straight away from home before Wednesday’s 4-2 loss to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton at Scope, lost a 1-0 duel to the Devils last Friday night… Keith Kinkaid made 34 saves to earn the shutout for Albany, while Dustin Tokarski stopped 20 of 21 shots in the loss… The Devils have points in four straight (3-0-0-1) and are 5-1-0-1 since losing five of their first six games of the season… Rookie forward Joe Whitney has 4-4-8 in his last seven games for Albany.

Linden Vey scored with 1:44 left in regulation to give Manchester a 4-3 win over Portland on Wednesday; the Monarchs look to keep rolling as they head into Providence tonight… Manchester is 6-8-0-1 on the season but 2-0-0-1 vs. the Bruins, who have lost five of their last seven overall… Monarchs defenseman David Kolomatis and Bruins forward Josh Hennessy lead all scorers in the season series with 2-2-4 apiece… Providence defenseman Zach McKelvie is a West Point graduate and former second lieutenant in the U.S. Army; he talks about Veterans’ Day in a story in today’s Providence Journal.

Hamilton wraps up a six-game homestand as Grand Rapids visits Copps Coliseum tonight… The Bulldogs have lost four of the first five on the homestand and five of six overall, most recently a 4-1 setback to Chicago on Tuesday… Brian Willsie has points in six straight games for Hamilton (1-5-6)… The Griffins have lost two in a row, including Wednesday’s 5-3 defeat to Rockford… Jamie Johnson extended his goal-scoring streak to four games (4-2-6) in the loss and 2010 Red Wings draftee Louis-Marc Aubry scored his first professional goal.

Lake Erie ended a three-game skid with a 5-2 win over San Antonio last night; the teams meet again in a rematch at Quicken Loans Arena this evening… David van der Gulik and Brad Malone had a goal and an assist each for the Monsters and Ryan Stoa ended a 14-game drought with his first goal of the season… Cedrick Desjardins (2-2-0, 1.51, .950) continued his sharp play with 22 saves for Lake Erie… Colby Robak and Angelo Esposito scored last night for the Rampage, who have lost six of their last seven… Jacob Markstrom, in his first AHL appearance of the year, stopped 24 of 28 shots in the loss.

Portland heads to Springfield to take on the Falcons in the 151st all-time meeting between the teams… The Pirates have lost five of their last seven; the Falcons had a three-game winning streak snapped by Adirondack in their most recent action last Friday… Rookie Cam Atkinson has a goal in three straight games for Springfield and has 4-2-6 in 10 games with Springfield between recalls to Columbus… Brett Hextall has goals in two straight games for the Pirates.

Binghamton tries to halt a five-game winless streak (0-4-0-1) when it makes its first visit of the season to Rochester tonight… The Senators haven’t won since a 3-1 victory over the Amerks on Oct. 29, falling to 5-7-1-1 on the year… Rochester got back to the .500 mark (5-5-2-1) with a 6-5 overtime win over Syracuse on Sunday… Defenseman Brayden McNabb‘s first professional goal was the game-winner for the Americans in that one… Second-year pro Mike Hoffman leads the Sens in scoring with 4-5-9 on the season, and two of rookie Pat Cannone‘s four goals for the year have come against Rochester.

Charlotte begins the final leg of its nine-game road stretch in Oklahoma City with the first of two against the Barons… The Checkers, who earned a 2-1 win at the Cox Convention Center on Oct. 28, are playing their third consecutive three-in-three on the road; they won two of three over each of the first two weekends… Jerome Samson has a seven-game scoring streak for Charlotte (4-6-10), which begins the weekend two points up on Milwaukee atop the Midwest Division… Oklahoma City owns the best record in the AHL at 9-2-0-1 and comes in having won five in a row since that loss to Charlotte two weeks ago… Linus Omark has 0-5-5 in three games since rejoining the Barons.

After opening a seven-game road trip with a win in Houston last night, Abbotsford heads to Cedar Park to take on Texas… The Heat got two goals and an assist each from Krys Kolanos and Jon Rheault in last night’s 5-3 victory… Kolanos (7-6-13) has points in all six games since joining the Abbotsford lineup, and the Heat have scored 24 goals in those six games… Texas (6-5-0-0) has won three in a row and five of seven, and is coming off Richard Bachman‘s 29-save effort in a 4-0 win at San Antonio on Sunday.

Rockford travels downstate to open a home-and-home series with Peoria… The IceHogs have already earned two wins at Carver Arena this season and are 4-2-0-0 on the road overall… Rockford defenseman Brian Connelly has 1-6-7 in three games vs. Peoria this season, and 0-4-4 in eight games against the rest of the AHL… T.J. Hensick and Brett Sterling had nine-game scoring streaks snapped in the Rivermen’s 2-1 loss to Milwaukee last Saturday night.
