300 Club
The San Jose-San Diego series marks just the second time in AHL history that two head coaches with at least 300 career victories have faced each other in the Calder Cup Playoffs… The Barracuda’s Roy Sommer is the AHL career leader with 764 regular-season wins; the Gulls’ Dallas Eakins ranks 17th with 311 regular-season wins.

The only previous playoff meeting between 300-win coaches came in 1965, when Johnny Crawford‘s Baltimore Clippers met Frank Mathers‘ Hershey Bears in the league quarterfinals… Crawford entered that series with 319 victories; Mathers had 312… The Bears won, three games to two.

Alumni Watch
In last night’s Stanley Cup Playoff action, Roope Hintz, who helped Texas reach the Calder Cup Finals a year ago, scored his first two career Stanley Cup Playoff goals in Dallas’s 5-1 win over Nashville… 2016 AHL Rookie of the Year co-winner Mikko Rantanen scored with 2:50 left in regulation and again 10:23 into overtime to give Colorado a 3-2 win over Calgary and a 3-1 series lead… David Pastrnak scored twice in a 95-second span and Boston went on to a 6-4 win over Toronto, evening their series at two games apiece.
