All even at one game apiece, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton hosts Providence tonight in Game 3 of their Atlantic Division semifinal series… Facing the possibility of an 0-2 deficit, the Penguins tied Sunday’s Game 2 with 1:03 left in regulation and then won it, 6-5, on Derrick Pouliot‘s goal at 7:49 of overtime… Wilkes-Barre’s David Warsofsky, who had two goals in 30 career Calder Cup Playoff contests entering Sunday, scored twice in a span of 23 seconds of Game 2, part of a four-point afternoon… Josh Archibald also scored twice for the Penguins, and Kevin Porter tied a franchise playoff record with four assists… Chris Porter notched a pair of goals for the Bruins, who erased a 3-0 deficit with three second-period markers… Tommy Cross, in his return to the Providence lineup after beginning the postseason with the parent Boston Bruins, added a goal and two assists… The Penguins’ Casey DeSmith and the Bruins’ Zane McIntyre, the top two goaltenders in the AHL in terms of goals-against average and save percentage during the regular season, combined to allow 11 goals on 77 shots (.857) in Game 2… The Penguins are now 12-7 against the Bruins in playoff games since 2013, including 6-2 in overtime.

In Stanley Cup Playoff action last night, 2010 AHL All-Star P.K. Subban recorded a goal and two assists and 2004 Calder Cup champion Vernon Fiddler scored the winning goal to lift Nashville past St. Louis, 4-3… Leon Draisaitl had a goal and three assists and Adam Larsson added two goals and an assist as Edmonton defeated Anaheim, 5-3.


On This Date
April 27, 2013 – Richard Panik scores 6:36 into overtime as Syracuse opens its first-round series with a 4-3 win over Portland.

April 27, 1997 – Manny Legace makes 35 saves and Kevin Brown scores 10:20 into overtime as Springfield defeats Portland, 1-0, in a winner-take-all Game 5, capping a comeback from an 0-2 series deficit.
