The North Division Finals get underway tonight after the two lower-seeded teams advanced out of round one… Third-place Toronto swept Rochester in three straight, while fourth-place Cleveland took out the division champions from Syracuse in four games… The Marlies (2018) and Monsters (2016) are two of the last three Calder Cup champions, and both enter this meeting having won five straight playoff series… Chris Mueller (3-2-5) paced Toronto in scoring in the first round, while Adam Brooks (4-0-4) led the club in goals on the strength of his Game 3 hat trick… Jeremy Bracco (2-2-4) and Nicholas Baptiste (1-0-1) were the only other members of the Marlies to score in the series vs. Rochester… Kasimir Kaskisuo (3-0, 1.32, .960) stopped 97 of 101 shots… Cleveland’s offense in the division semis was led by Sonny Milano (1-5-6)… Liam Foudy, Columbus’s first-round pick (18th overall) in the 2018 NHL Draft, made his pro debut in Game 1 against Syracuse and scored his first two pro goals in the series-clinching Game 4… Brad Thiessen (3-1, 1.52, .942) allowed six goals on 103 shots against the Crunch… Thiessen owns a 1.97 GAA and a .927 save percentage over 45 career Calder Cup Playoff appearances… Tonight’s game can be seen live on TSN2, Leafs Nation Network and FOX Sports Ohio, as well as AHLTV.

It’s a quick turnaround for Chicago and Iowa, who kick off the Central Division Finals tonight at Allstate Arena… The Wild eliminated Milwaukee in a decisive Game 5 on Monday, while the Wolves took out Grand Rapids in a Game 5 of their own on Sunday… Keegan Kolesar (4-0-4) scored twice in Chicago’s series-clinching victory, finishing the series with a team-high four goals… Tye McGinn (3-3-6) and Tomas Hyka (2-4-6) shared the overall scoring lead for the Wolves… Hyka and T.J. Tynan (2-3-5) enter the second round with four-game scoring streaks intact… Oscar Dansk (2-1, 2.68, .914) earned the wins in Games 4 and 5 to help send Chicago to the second round for the 10th time in 13 trips to the AHL postseason… Iowa’s 2-1 win over Milwaukee in Game 5 on Monday came in the its third chance to close out that series… Cal O’Reilly (3-3-6) led the Wild in scoring during a series that saw 10 different Iowa skaters net at least one goal… Gerald Mayhew (4-1-5) followed his 27-goal regular season by leading the Wild in first-round goals… Andrew Hammond (3-2, 1.94, .930) allowed 10 goals on 143 shots in the series, stopping 88 of 90 shots in the three Iowa wins… The Wild and Wolves split eight meetings during the 2018-19 regular season; both teams scored 21 goals, and both teams won once in regulation and once in overtime both at home and on the road.
