(HER leads series, 3-2)

The Hershey Bears return home with two chances to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals, beginning with tonight’s Game 6 against Providence… The Bears took two of three from the Bruins in Rhode Island despite being outshot by a combined 110-43 margin in Games 3-5… All three of Hershey’s wins in the series have come in OT, the third time in franchise history they have accomplished that feat (2010 vs. Manchester; 2010 vs. Albany)… Madison Bowey (2-2-4) scored the winning goal in Game 5 at 1:58 of the extra period… Former Bruins Chris Bourque (5-3-8) and Paul Carey (1-1-2) scored in regulation for the Bears… Bourque also set up Bowey’s OT goal to become the AHL’s all-time leader in postseason assists (81)… Providence is looking to duplicate its first-round comeback, when it won the final two games on the road to eliminate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton… Tommy Cross (2-4-6) and Austin Czarnik (2-2-4) scored for the Bruins in Game 5, erasing 1-0 and 2-1 deficits… Noel Acciari (0-3-3) tallied two assists, giving him three in his last two games… Zane McIntyre (5-5, 2.13, .922) shows an .896 save percentage in the Providence cage this series after posting a .936 mark in round one… After finishing up Game 4 in relief of an injured Pheonix Copley, the Bears’ Vitek Vanecek (1-0, 1.49, .950) made his first career Calder Cup Playoff start in Game 5 and recorded 29 saves to earn the win… Providence has lost eight consecutive trips to overtime during the postseason, one shy of the all-time AHL record of nine set by the Manitoba Moose between 2003 and 2011… The Bruins, 6-for-22 (27.3 percent) on the power play against the league’s top-ranked penalty killers in the first round, are just 1-for-17 (5.9 percent) against Hershey in this series… The Bears are 3-for-16 (18.8 percent) following an 0-for-13 showing in the opening round against Lehigh Valley… The Bruins are 27-18 all-time when facing playoff elimination, including an impressive 16-8 on the road.
