After winning the first two games at home, (2) Toronto looks to close out (7) Rochester tonight as the best-of-five series shifts to the Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial… The Marlies were 4-3 victors in both Game 1 and Game 2, and all 12 meetings between the teams this season have now been decided by a single goal… Jerry D’Amigo has four goals in the series for Toronto, scoring the game-winning tallies at 15:43 of the third period in Game 1 and 18:10 of the third period in Game 2… Matt Frattin (1-2-3) and Joe Colborne (0-3-3) have three points each in the series for the Marlies, and Mike Zigomanis has added a pair of power-play goals… Ben Scrivens, who led the AHL with a 2.04 GAA in the regular season, has allowed six goals on 49 Rochester shots (2-0, 3.00, .878)… Rookies Marcus Foligno and Phil Varone lead the Americans with 2-1-3 apiece, and T.J. Brennan has also scored twice in the series… David Leggio (0-2, 4.08, .873) has now made 25 consecutive starts in net for Rochester.

Jarret Stoll, a Calder Cup finalist with Hamilton in 2003, scored 4:27 into overtime as Los Angeles knocked out top-seeded Vancouver with a 2-1 win in Game 5… 2011 AHL All-Rookie defenseman Erik Gustafsson scored his first career playoff goal and recorded a game-high seven blocked shots as Philadelphia eliminated Pittsburgh with a 5-1 victory in Game 6 yesterday… AHL alums David Krejci, Andrew Ference and 2006 Calder Cup finalist Rich Peverley all had a goal and an assist in Boston’s 4-3 win over Washington yesterday, evening their series at three games apiece.


By the Numbers

14 – Times in AHL history that a goaltender has recorded back-to-back shutouts in the same playoff series, most recently Connecticut’s Cameron Talbot vs. Bridgeport this year… None has ever had three straight.

8 – Professional seasons played by goaltender Mike Brodeur, who earned his first career Calder Cup Playoff victory with a 31-save shutout for Houston last night.

April 23, 1974 – Rick Middleton’s goal 16:07 into overtime gives the Providence Reds a series-clinching 4-3 win in Game 4 at New Haven, sending them to the Calder Cup Finals.
