Game 5 – 7:00 ET, AHL Live (Series tied, 2-2)
The Eastern Conference quarterfinal draw wraps up tonight with a winner-take-all Game 5 between the second-seeded Springfield Falcons and the seventh-seeded Providence Bruins at the MassMutual Center… Springfield is being led in scoring in the series by former Bruins forward Carter Camper (1-3-4) and two-time Calder Cup winner Patrick McNeill (0-4-4)… Captain Ryan Craig (2-1-3) is the only Falcons skater with more than one goal… Mike McKenna (2-2, 2.86, .924) has allowed 11 goals on 145 shots in the series but was lifted during Providence’s 6-3 win in Game 4 back on Tuesday night… Matt Fraser (3-1-4), Ryan Spooner (2-2-4) and David Warsofsky (1-3-4) share the Bruins’ scoring lead to date… Niklas Svedberg (1-2, 2.28, .916) started the first three games of the series, and rookie Malcolm Subban (1-0, 3.00, .912) got the call in Game 4… Providence has scored first in each of the first four games of the series… The Falcons are 4-for-14 (28.6 percent) on the power play, while the Bruins are 4-for-19 (21.1 percent)… Providence has a 155-117 advantage in shots on goal, and a 12-10 edge in scoring… Tonight is the 157th mutual-elimination playoff game in AHL history, and the 45th Game 5 in a best-of-five series… Since 2002, AHL teams are 41-11 when scoring the first goal in a winner-take-all game… A Springfield win tonight would pit the Falcons against Norfolk in the second round; a Providence win would set up a rematch of last year’s seven-game classic between the Bruins and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
