Norfolk begins a three-in-three road weekend with a stop in Albany tonight, the fifth of seven straight away from home for the Admirals… Norfolk, 7-2-0-1 on the season, is averaging 5.4 goals per game in its seven wins and 2.7 goals per game in its three losses… Reebok/AHL Rookie of the Month for October Carter Ashton (9-4-13) has scored a goal in four straight games for the Admirals… Norfolk was 6-0-1-1 against the Devils in 2010-11, winning all four trips to the Times Union Center… Albany has won three straight at home and four of its last five overall, most recently a 3-2 victory over Binghamton on Wednesday night… Devils forward Matt Anderson had 5-5-10 in eight meetings with Norfolk last season…

St. John’s continues its six-game New England trip with a visit to Hartford to take on Connecticut in a battle of first-place clubs tonight… The IceCaps opened the trip with a pair of overtime losses last weekend, but came back with a 6-3 win in Worcester on Tuesday… Kevin Clark scored twice for St. John’s in Tuesday’s win, giving him three goals in his last two games… The Atlantic-leading IceCaps are 6-2-3-0 on the season, including 3-0-2-0 away from home, while the Northeast-leading Whale are 6-0-1-2 in their last nine games after an opening-night loss to Adirondack… Jonathan Audy-Marchessault had two goals and an assist in Connecticut’s 4-3 overtime loss in Bridgeport on Wednesday.

Rochester tries to snap a five-game winless streak (0-2-2-1) in Binghamton tonight against the Senators… While the Americans have been off since a 3-1 loss to the Sens last Saturday, Binghamton has fallen back to the .500 mark with losses in Hershey (Sunday) and Albany (Wednesday)… Rookie defenseman Mark Borowiecki, who played nine regular-season games and 21 playoff contests with the Senators at the end of the 2010-11 season, scored his first professional goal in Wednesday’s game… Robin Lehner (4-2-0, 2.77, .927) was assigned to Binghamton by Ottawa this morning… Corey Tropp (4-3-7), who scored for the Amerks in last weekend’s loss to Binghamton, was recalled by Buffalo and could make his NHL debut with the Sabres tonight.

Providence and Manchester open a home-and-home series at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center tonight… The Monarchs defeated the Bruins, 7-1, back on Oct. 14… Since that night, the teams have gone in opposite directions, with Manchester losing six of eight and the Bruins going 5-2-1-0… Brandon Kozun had the only Monarchs goal in last Saturday’s 4-1 loss to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton… Stefan Chaput has scored a goal in three straight games for the B’s… Six of Providence’s last seven games have been decided by one goal.

The only team in the AHL without a home win this season, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton welcomes Hershey to the Mohegan Sun Arena tonight… The Penguins are 0-2-1-1 on home ice but are coming off four consecutive wins on the road… Bryan Lerg brings a seven-game scoring streak into the weekend for the Pens (6-6-12)… The Bears, playing their only game of the weekend, sit at 6-2-2-0 following Sunday’s 3-2 win over Binghamton… Keith Aucoin (3-13-16) leads the AHL and is tied for second in points, and he has found the scoresheet in nine of Hershey’s 10 games.

Houston heads to Hamilton in a rematch of last spring’s epic Western Conference Finals, won by the Aeros in seven games… The Bulldogs became just the third team in AHL history to rally from an 0-3 series deficit to force a deciding game, but the Aeros advanced to the Calder Cup Finals on Jon DiSalvatore‘s goal with 1:13 left in Game 7… Casey Wellman, who scored two goals in that Game 7 win, is one off the AHL lead with eight goals this season (8-2-10) for Houston… The Aeros improved to a league-best 7-1-0-3 with a 5-3 win at Lake Erie last night… The Bulldogs have lost three in a row, most recently a 3-2 overtime setback to Abbotsford on Tuesday… Olivier Fortier has a goal in three straight for Hamilton.

Adirondack and Springfield both play one game this weekend, and it’s tonight against each other at the MassMutual Center… The Phantoms in second place in the Northeast Division, one point ahead of the Falcons and two points out of first… Denis Hamel (8-4-12) leads Adirondack in scoring and is two goals behind former Adirondack Red Wings great Glenn Merkosky (325) for 12th on the AHL’s all-time goal-scoring list… Springfield has won three in a row, and is looking for its first four-game winning streak since Dec. 26-30, 2006… Martin St. Pierre has a four-game scoring streak for the Falcons (2-4-6).

Milwaukee looks to right the ship as Charlotte comes to the Bradley Center for the first time tonight… The Admirals began the season 5-0-0-1 before back-to-back home losses to Grand Rapids and Texas last weekend… Rookie defenseman Ryan Ellis, the 11th overall pick in the 2009 NHL draft, has 2-1-3 in his last two games for Milwaukee after managing just 0-1-1 in his first six… Tonight opens the second of three consecutive three-in-three road weekends for the Checkers, who had a four-game winning streak snapped in a 5-3 loss at Houston on Sunday… Jerome Samson had a goal, an assist and nine shots in Sunday’s setback, extending his scoring streak to four games (2-4-6).

Former Wolves sniper Brett Sterling scored the game-winning goal as Peoria defeated Chicago, 3-2, last night; the teams battle again at Carver Arena this evening… The win pushed the Rivermen over .500 for the first time this season (5-4-1-1) after an 0-3-0-1 start… Derek Nesbitt and Anthony Nigro also scored for Peoria, and Ben Bishop made 28 saves… Nathan Longpre and Bill Sweatt scored for the Wolves, who are 1-4-0-1 on the road this year… Chicago has scored two goals or fewer in nine of its first 10 games.
