Lake Erie and Toronto tangle at Ricoh Coliseum for a second straight matinee… The Marlies bested the Monsters, 5-3, in yesterday’s matchup, getting a goal and two assists from Joe Colborne (3-3-6)… Mike Zigomanis and Luca Caputi scored 68 seconds apart late in the second period to break a 2-2 tie and send Toronto to victory… Luke Walker, David van der Gulik and Justin Mercier all scored their first goals of the season for Lake Erie… The Monsters were 0-for-6 on the power play, dropping to 0-for-17 on the season.

Adirondack and Bridgeport close out three-in-three weekends at Webster Bank Arena this afternoon… It’s a rematch of Friday’s game in Glens Falls, won by the Phantoms 6-3 on the strength of Brayden Schenn‘s hat trick… Adirondack fell in Syracuse, 6-2, with Schenn (4-2-6) and Denis Hamel (2-2-4) getting the Phantoms goals… The Sound Tigers rallied for a 5-4 shootout win at Connecticut last night, erasing 2-0 and 4-3 deficits in regulation… Kevin Poulin made 41 saves for Bridgeport to pick up his first win of the year.

Charlotte and Peoria wrap up their two-game set at the Time Warner Cable Arena this afternoon after the Checkers pulled out a 4-3 shootout victory last night… The Rivermen got third-period goals from Phil McRae, Stefan Della Rovere and Anthony Peluso to erase a three-goal deficit and earn their first standings point of the season… Nicholas Blanchard, Jerome Samson and Zach Boychuk scored for the Checkers and Matthew Pistilli got the game-winner in the seventh round of the shootout… Jon Matsumoto (2-6-8) had two assists to move into a tie for the AHL scoring lead.

Manchester and Springfield collide at the MassMutual Center in their second of six meetings this season… The Monarchs have outscored their opponents 17-5 in four games this season, including 12-2 in wins at Providence and Portland to begin the weekend… The Falcons (2-2-0-0) have scored 13 goals in their two wins, but three goals in their two losses… Marc-Andre Cliche had a hat trick in Manchester’s 5-2 win over Springfield on Oct. 7… Nick Drazenovic (2-5-7) has a point in all four games for Springfield this season.

After rallying for a 4-3 win on Friday night, Abbotsford hosts Rockford again this afternoon at the Entertainment & Sports Centre… Jon Rheault and Greg Nemisz scored 44 seconds apart early in the third period to cap the Heat’s rally from two goals down, and Leland Irving stopped all 24 shots he faced over the final two periods to improve to 3-0-0… Both of Nemisz’s goals this season have been game-winners… Jeremy Morin, Kyle Beach and Brandon Pirri scored in the loss for the IceHogs (2-1-0-0).

It’s the first of eight meetings on the year between Binghamton and Albany… The defending Calder Cup champion Senators got their first win of 2011-12 last night, a 5-4 overtime triumph at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton… Mark Parrish capped a four-point night by scoring the winning goal 3:29 into OT… Kaspars Daugavins has recorded a point in each of the Sens’ first four games (3-2-5)… The Devils, who are playing six of their first seven games of the year at home, lost the only road game in that stretch last night, a 6-1 setback in Worcester… Vladimir Zharkov scored the only Albany goal in the loss… Six of these teams’ eight meetings last season were decided by a single goal.

Providence picked up its first win of the season last night, as Anton Khudobin made 26 saves in a 4-1 victory at Springfield… Jamie Tardif, Josh Hennessy and Zach Hamill (2) scored for the Bruins… Portland was on the short end of a 5-1 score in its home opener vs. Manchester last night, with Colin Long scoring the only goal for the Pirates… This will be the 187th regular-season meeting between these teams, whose rivalry dates to the 1993-94 season.

Fresh off a 10-1 thumping of Texas in its home opener last night, Oklahoma City welcomes Houston to the Cox Convention Center… Ryan Keller, who scored the Calder Cup-clinching goal vs. Houston as captain of the Binghamton Senators last spring, led the Barons with 2-2-4 in last night’s win, in which 14 of 18 OKC skaters recorded at least one point… Houston lost 4-3 to San Antonio last night in a game that ended in an 11-round shootout… Casey Wellman scored his fourth goal in three games for the Aeros… Houston won nine of 10 meetings with the Barons last season, including all five in Oklahoma City.

Grand Rapids and Rochester meet at the Blue Cross Arena this evening in the first of six meetings this season… Both the Griffins and Americans were off last night, after both won their first game of the season on Friday… Willie Coetzee (2-0-2) has scored two of Grand Rapids’ five goals this season, while Gustav Nyquist (1-2-3) and Chris Conner (0-3-3) lead the club in points… Corey Tropp (0-3-3) is the Amerks’ top scorer, with T.J. Brennan, Michael Ryan and Derek Whitmore chipping in 1-1-2 apiece.
