Connecticut extended its points streak to five games (3-0-0-2) with a 2-1 win in Springfield last night, setting up a rematch at the XL Center in Hartford this afternoon… Jonathan Audy-Marchessault and Mats Zuccarello scored in the third period to give the Whale the win last night, and Cameron Talbot made 33 saves on 34 shots… Wade MacLeod had the lone goal for the Falcons, who have lost two in a row… Connecticut is 50-14-1-3-3 (W-L-T-OTL-SOL) all-time on home ice against Springfield.

Albany and Providence collide at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center this afternoon… The Devils scored four unanswered power-play goals en route to a 5-2 win over Adirondack last night, with rookie defenseman Eric Gelinas leading the way with two goals and an assist, his first three professional points… Matt Anderson (1-2-3) and Stephane Veilleux (0-3-3) also had a three-point night for Albany… Providence won its fourth in a row last night as Calle Ridderwall and Carter Camper scored in the third period to lift the Bruins past Portland, 4-3… Karel St. Laurent made 37 saves for his first pro win.

After sweeping a pair of meetings from Charlotte on home ice to open the season, Norfolk heads to the Time Warner Cable Arena to pay its first visit of the season to the Checkers today… The Admirals dropped to 4-1-0-1 on the season after a 3-2 shootout loss to Binghamton last night… Mike Vernace scored both regulation goals for Norfolk and Jaroslav Janus stopped 36 of 38 shots… Charlotte is wrapping up a five-game homestand after pulling out a 2-1 shootout win over Houston last night… Justin Faulk scored his first professional goal for the Checkers in last night’s win.

Still looking for its first home win of the season, Hershey welcomes Syracuse to Giant Center this evening… The Bears fell to 0-1-1-0 at home by dropping a 3-1 decision to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last night, their first regulation loss of the season… Boyd Kane scored the only Hershey goal last night, the Bears’ ninth power-play marker in 32 chances this season (28.1 percent)… Syracuse is coming off a 3-2 overtime loss at home to Lake Erie last night… The Crunch (3-0-1-1) are one of three AHL teams still without a regulation loss (Worcester, Milwaukee)… Kyle Palmieri extended his goal-scoring streak to five games with his league-leading eighth goal of the season; going back to last season, Palmieri has 23 goals in his last 19 AHL games.

Lake Erie and Toronto are both coming off emotional wins as they meet at Ricoh Coliseum this evening… The Monsters picked up their first win of the season with a 3-2 overtime decision in Syracuse, as Cameron Gaunce scored with 2:22 left in the third period and Stefan Elliott won it with his first pro goal 3:24 into OT… The Marlies trailed Rochester by two goals with less than two minutes left in regulation, but Ryan Hamilton (18:27) and Darryl Boyce (19:01) tied the game before Joe Colborne won it at 2:28 of overtime… This is the finale of a five-game road swing for the Monsters, including their third game at Ricoh.

Grand Rapids shook off a third-period comeback to knock off Oklahoma City, 3-2 in a shootout last night… Today, the Griffins are off to Houston to take on an Aeros team that took three of four points in Charlotte to start the weekend… Brent Raedeke and Andrej Nestrasil scored last night for the Griffins, who have alternated losses and wins over their first six games… Jon DiSalvatore‘s goal with 41.7 seconds left in regulation helped Houston force extra time, although the Aeros would go on to a 2-1 shootout loss in Charlotte… Houston is 12-for-12 on the penalty kill on home ice this season.

Adirondack finishes up a three-game weekend road trip in Rochester to take on the Americans… The Phantoms were on the short end of a 5-2 score in Albany last night, despite two goals from former Amerks forward Denis Hamel… The goals were Hamel’s fifth and sixth of the season and give him 321 for his AHL career, tying Bruce Cline for 13th place all-time… Rochester had a late 4-2 lead in Toronto yesterday but gave up two goals in the final 93 seconds of regulation before falling in overtime, 5-4… Derek Whitmore scored twice yesterday, and is now tied with rookie Zack Kassian for the team scoring lead with 3-4-7 on the season.

Chicago swept a home-and-home from Rockford to open the weekend; now the Wolves head to Peoria to take on the Rivermen… Matt Climie stopped 47 shots — the most by an AHL goalie this season — and Michael Duco had a goal and two assists in Chicago’s 4-1 win over the IceHogs last night… The Wolves have evened their record at 2-2-0-2 heading into their first meeting of the season with Peoria, which dropped a wild 6-5 overtime decision at Texas last night… Phil McRae recorded a hat trick in the loss, as the Rivermen rallied from 1-0, 3-1 and 5-4 deficits… Beginning tonight, Peoria will play seven of their next eight games at home.
