Bridgeport and Albany will both be trying to rebound from season-opening losses when they meet at the Times Union Center this afternoon… Tomas Marcinko and Aaron Ness scored for the Sound Tigers in last night’s 4-2 setback to Portland… Darcy Zajac, Matt Anderson and Matthew Corrente had the Devils’ goals in a 6-3 loss to Springfield… Albany’s Chad Wiseman had 7-2-9 in four games vs. Bridgeport last season, including four goals in the third period of a 5-4 win on Mar. 9.

Worcester opens its 2011-12 season with a visit to Providence this afternoon… It’s the first game of the year for the Sharks, while the Bruins are looking to bounce back from Friday’s 4-1 loss to St. John’s… Maxime Sauve scored Providence’s lone goal on opening night, and Anton Khudobin made 27 saves… Worcester was 4-2-0-0 at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center last season.

Connecticut lost its season opener for the fifth time in the last six years, getting doubled up by Adirondack, 6-3, last night… Kris Newbury scored all three goals for the Whale, the first career hat trick for the ninth-year pro… Wilkes-Barre/Scranton dropped a 3-2 decision at home to Hershey last night… Brian Gibbons (SH) and Niko Dimitrakos (PP) scored for the Penguins… Connecticut won both meetings between the teams last season.

Rockford, which won 10 of its final 11 games last season, opened the 2011-12 campaign with a 3-2 win over Grand Rapids last night, getting the winning goal from Brandon Segal with 2:43 remaining in regulation… Kyle Beach and Chris DiDomenico scored power-play goals for the IceHogs… Peoria stumbled out of the gate last night, falling 4-1 to Milwaukee at Carver Arena… Brett Sterling scored the only goal for the Rivermen, a power-play tally 9:06 into the game… Rockford defenseman Brian Connelly racked up 3-8-11 in 10 meetings with the Rivermen last year.

It’s opening night for both Oklahoma City and Texas as the West Division foes square off at the Cedar Park Center… Stars goaltender Richard Bachman was 6-2-1 with a 1.78 GAA and a .943 save percentage in 10 appearances against the Barons last season… Teemu Hartikainen is coming off an impressive rookie season that saw him notch 17-25-42 in 66 games for the Barons.

Houston opens defense of its Western Conference championship with a home date against Chicago… The Aeros knocked off Peoria, Milwaukee and Hamilton in last year’s playoffs before falling to Binghamton in six games in the Calder Cup Finals… The Wolves fell in a shootout, 3-2, in San Antonio last night… Kevin Doell and rookie Darren Archibald scored for Chicago… Jon DiSalvatore has scored at least 20 goals in each of his first eight AHL seasons, including a career-best 28 for the Aeros last year.
