LOOKING AHEAD:
Winners of eight straight overall and seven in a row at home to begin the year, Grand Rapids welcomes Milwaukee and AHL-leading Rochester to Van Andel Arena this weekend… Kris Newbury is on a career-high six-game assist streak (1-7-8) and leads the Griffins with 11 points (3-8-11) in 13 games overall… Jeremy Williams shows a team-high eight goals (8-1-9) for Grand Rapids, including four in his last three contests (4-1-5), helping the Griffins average a league-high 3.54 goals per game… Milwaukee’s Cal O’Reilly has found the scoresheet in seven of his eight AHL games and leads the team with 12 points (2-10-12)… Hugh Jessiman has a goal in two straight games after being held scoreless in his first 11 contests… The Admirals are embarking on an eight-game road swing and will not return to the Bradley Center until Dec. 2.
Worcester visits Tsongas Arena in Lowell on Friday in the back end of the division rivals’ home-and-home set this week… The Devils have scored 18 goals in three games versus the Sharks including Wednesday’s 7-3 victory, and enter the weekend with the league’s second-ranked offense (3.50 goals per game)… The Devils’ Matt Taormina leads all AHL rookie defensemen with 13 points (6-7-13) in 16 games, and fellow rookie Nathan Perkovich has netted a goal in three straight games (3-3-6)… Sharks rookie Logan Couture has 3-6-9 in three match-ups with Lowell and 5-8-13 overall in just eight AHL games this season… Fellow first-year pro Brandon Mashinter shows five points (3-2-5) in three games against the Devils and three points (1-2-3) in 11 games against everybody else.
Peoria hosts Abbotsford on Friday in the first-ever match-up between the two teams… The Rivermen, who enter the weekend winners of a season-high three straight games, have gone 31-6-0-3 against the Calgary Flames’ AHL affiliates over the past four seasons… Defenseman Bryce Lampman has three goals in his last two games for Peoria after totaling one assist in his first 12 outings… Jonas Junland ranks third among AHL blueliners with 15 points (6-9-15) in 14 games for the Rivermen, and four of his six goals have come on a Peoria power play that ranks fourth in the AHL (23.0 percent)… Abbotsford has managed just two goals in dropping its last two contests on the heels of a four-game winning streak… The Heat’s lone score in a 4-1 loss at Milwaukee on Thursday came via a Carsen Germyn penalty shot… Jamie Lundmark paces the Heat offense with 13 points (5-8-13) in 17 contests.

Rangers… Nicklas Bergfors, who ranked second on AHL Lowell with 51 points in 2008-09, had a goal and two assists to help New Jersey to a 4-1 win at Pittsburgh on Thursday… 2008-09 AHL All-Rookie forward Justin Abdelkader scored twice and 2005 Eddie Shore Award winner Niklas Kronwall put up three points (2-1-3) in Detroit’s 9-1 rout of Columbus on Wednesday.
