LOOKING AHEAD:
Texas returns from a five-game road trip on Friday to host Houston in the front end of a home-and-home set, marking the first meeting between the teams since Jan. 6… The Stars have lost eight of their last 11 games and enter the weekend six points up on the Aeros for the West Division’s fourth and final playoff spot… Stars rookie Colton Sceviour shows six points (1-5-6) in seven games against Houston this season and 17 points (4-13-17) in 52 games against everyone else… Aaron Gagnon has scored five goals in his last five games for Texas… The Aeros have dropped four of five, managing just seven goals in that span… Duncan Milroy has scored in two straight contests for Houston on the heels of an 11-game drought… Houston is 14-7-1-1 against non-divisional opponents this season but 14-18-5-0 within the West Division.

Winners of three straight games and seven of its last eight (7-1-0-0), Abbotsford wraps up a nine-game road trip with a pair of dates against Atlantic Division-leading Worcester this weekend… Heat rookie Mikael Backlund shows six points (3-3-6) in five games since returning from an NHL stint, and Shawn Weller is riding a five-game scoring streak (3-3-6)… Defenseman Staffan Kronwall has an assist in seven of his last eight contests (0-8-8), and fellow rearguard Keith Seabrook has found the scoresheet in three of his last four (2-2-4)… Worcester is 11-2-2-0 in its last 15 home games and 5-1-0-0 in its last six overall… Captain Ryan Vesce scored twice on Wednesday vs. Portland in his return from a 26-game injury absence… Dan DaSilva is on a five-game scoring streak (5-3-8) for the Sharks, while T.J. Trevelyan has 5-4-9 in his last 10 outings… Heat forward Riley Armstrong was a 25-goal scorer for Worcester in 2008-09.

Former division rivals begin and end their 2009-10 season series when the Bears and Sound Tigers meet Saturday in Hershey and Tuesday in Bridgeport… The league-leading Bears are looking to extend their AHL-record 20-game home winning streak… They are still the league’s top two scorers, but Keith Aucoin has 0-5-5 and a minus-7 rating in his last 10 games while Alexandre Giroux is scoreless in back-to-back games for only the third time all season… Andrew Joudrey has a point in four straight games (2-3-5) for the Bears… Bridgeport enters the weekend three points up on Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for the Eastern Conference’s last playoff spot… Sound Tigers defenseman Mark Flood and forward Greg Mauldin both show 1-2-3 over their last two games… Mauldin paces Bridgeport overall in goals (20), points (44), and plus/minus (plus-13).
