On Thursday, Eddie Lack turned aside all four shootout tries as Manitoba edged Hamilton, 4-3… In Wednesday’s action, Michael Swift’s late third-period goal vaulted Albany to a 2-1 win over Charlotte… Brett MacLean, Bracken Kearns, and Ryan Hollweg notched third-period goals as San Antonio rallied past Lake Erie, 4-2… On Tuesday, Martin Gerber posted a 35-save shutout to lead Oklahoma City over Lake Erie by a 3-0 count… Derek Whitmore converted in the ninth shootout round as Portland outlasted Manchester, 3-2.

LOOKING AHEAD:
West Division-leading Peoria continues its seven-game road trip Friday at Houston before moving to Cedar Park to battle the Texas Stars on Saturday… The Rivermen are a perfect 3-0-0-0 on the trip and have won five straight overall since a season-opening 4-3 loss to Manitoba on Oct. 8… Newcomers Graham Mink (4-8-12) and T.J. Hensick (2-6-8) are pacing Peoria’s offense along with returnee Nicholas Drazenovic, who shows a team-high five goals (5-3-8)… Veteran Dave Scatchard is riding a four-game scoring streak (2-5-7) for the Rivermen, and goaltender Ben Bishop (4-1-0, 2.41, .933) has won four straight… Houston began its season with back-to-back wins at Oklahoma City but has been outscored 11-4 in losing two straight since, including a 3-2 setback to Peoria on Oct. 16… Jean-Michel Daoust leads the Aeros with five points (2-3-5), while Petr Kalus shows a team-best three goals (3-1-4) thus far.

Arch-rivals Hershey and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton tangle for the second time this season on Friday at Mohegan Sun Arena… Wilkes-Barre claimed a 4-3 shootout decision in the first battle on Oct. 9, part of the Penguins’ 4-0-0-0 start overall… Returnees Dustin Jeffrey (2-3-5), Tim Wallace (3-1-4), and Nick Johnson (2-2-4) are atop the Penguins’ scoring list in the early going, and two-time AHL All-Star Brett Sterling has three points (1-2-3) in his first four games for Wilkes-Barre… Second-year pro Joe Vitale has scored twice (2-1-3) for the Pens, and both have been game-winners… Hershey, 2-1-0-1 on the year, has been idle since a 3-2 loss to Rochester on Oct. 16… Andrew Gordon has a goal in three straight games (3-3-6), and both he and reigning AHL MVP Keith Aucoin (3-6-9) show a point in all four games on the year… Hershey’s Brian Willsie has put up six points (2-4-6) in his last two outings… The Bears have struck for the first goal in each of their first four contests in 2010-11.

Atlantic Division-leading Portland makes its first visit of the year to Springfield on Friday… The Pirates are 5-0-0-0 at home thus far but lost their only road tilt, 4-1 at Bridgeport on Oct. 17… The Pirates’ Luke Adam, who put up 1-3-4 in his club’s 4-2 win over Springfield on Oct. 16, leads all AHL rookies with five goals and 10 points through six contests… Adam’s totals are tied for the team lead with two-time AHL All-Star Mark Mancari (5-5-10), who also boasts a plus-7 mark… Portland has converted just two of 37 power play tries in the early going (5.4 percent)… The Falcons have posted a 3-1-0-0 mark on the road but are still looking for their first home victory (0-2-0-0)… Springfield goaltender Dan Taylor (2-2-0) surrendered seven goals on 53 shots (.868) in his two losses but has stopped 72 of 74 shots (.973) in a pair of victories… Tom Sestito, who totaled 17 points in 36 games for AHL Syracuse last season, already shows seven points (3-4-7) in six games this year to pace the Falcons in scoring.

Artem Anisimov, who led AHL Hartford with 37 goals and 81 points in 2008-09, tallied the eventual game-winning goal on Thursday as the N.Y. Rangers downed Toronto, 2-1… Former AHL forwards Michael Grabner, Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau, and Matt Moulson scored as the N.Y. Islanders edged Tampa Bay in overtime, 3-2.
