LOOKING BACK:
On Thursday, Jon Matsumoto recorded three points (2-1-3) and Jerome Samson’s overtime goal sent Charlotte to a wild 7-6 victory over Norfolk… Three-time AHL All-Star T.J. Hensick tallied two goals and added an assist as Peoria collected a 4-1 win at Oklahoma City.

LOOKING AHEAD:
Manitoba continues a seven-game road swing by facing the iron of the East Division four times in a five-day span, as the Moose visit league-leading Wilkes-Barre on Friday and Tuesday, wedged around a Saturday/Sunday trip to Hershey, which has won six straight… Manitoba shows a 14-4-1-1 mark in its last 20 games and is within one point of first-place Hamilton in the North Division race… 2011 AHL All-Star Sergei Shirokov leads the Moose in goals (16) and points (33) but has been held scoreless in three straight games for just the second time all season… Manitoba captain Nolan Baumgartner has a point in 10 of his last 13 contests (1-11-12) and is up to third on the team in scoring with 24 points (3-21-24) in 46 games overall… Wilkes-Barre/Scranton comes out of the All-Star break sporting the AHL’s best record (36-12-0-0, 72 points)… Wilkes-Barre captain Ryan Craig brings a five-game scoring streak (2-6-8) into the weekend, while Nick Johnson (3-2-5) and Brett Sterling (4-2-6) each have a point in four of five… Hershey, which defeated Manitoba in the 2009 Calder Cup Finals, split a pair of tilts with the Moose in Winnipeg in early January.

Riding a five-game points streak (4-0-1-0), San Antonio makes its first trip of the year to Cleveland this weekend for battles against Lake Erie on Friday night and Saturday afternoon… These teams have not met since the Rampage earned a pair of home-ice victories back on Oct. 17 and 20… At 29-18-2-0 overall, the Rampage are in a three-way tie for second place in the crowded West Division… San Antonio’s Mathieu Beaudoin entered the All-Star break with six points (2-4-6) in five games after returning from a lengthy injury absence… Rampage goaltender Al Montoya is on a personal three-game winning streak, one short of his season high… Lake Erie is 8-2-0-0 in its last 10 games, and rookie Mark Olver has tallied a goal in all eight victories during that span (9-1-10), including four game-winners… Ben Walter has a point in four of his last five games (3-2-5), and goaltender John Grahame is coming off a 10-3-0 (1.85, .925) January which saw him earn Reebok/AHL Goaltender of the Month honors… The Monsters are 14-7-2-2 on home ice this season… San Antonio boasts the AHL’s second-ranked power play (22.6 percent), including a league-best 27.8 percent on the road.

Houston looks to continue its dominance of Texas this season when the cross-state rival Stars visit the Toyota Center on Friday… The Aeros are 6-1-0-0 against the Stars in 2010-11 – including a perfect 4-0-0-0 at home – and come out of the All-Star break sporting a 10-2-0-1 mark in their last 13 games overall… Houston is currently one point of first place in the West Division but only two points up on the sixth-place Stars… Aeros forward Jon DiSalvatore has racked up five goals and eight points against Texas this season and has recorded a point in seven of his last eight outings overall (4-5-9)… Robbie Earl collected 11 points (6-5-11) in 13 January games for the Aeros and boasts five goals in his last six contests… Texas’ Aaron Gagnon tallied a goal in three straight games (3-1-4) prior to the break, but both he and Stars leading scorer Travis Morin (13-21-34) begin the weekend on NHL recall to Dallas… Rookie goaltender Richard Bachman (17-10-3, 2.21, .925) has been in net for 16 of the Stars’ last 18 games… These teams will also meet on Tuesday night in Cedar Park.

In Thursday’s action, goaltender James Reimer, who is 9-5-1 for AHL Toronto this season, made 27 saves for his first career NHL shutout as the Toronto Maple Leafs downed Carolina, 3-0… Ville Leino scored twice – including the game-winner – to lift Philadelphia past Nashville, 3-2… 2005 AHL All-Star Patrice Bergeron (2-1-3) and Brad Marchand (1-2-3) each had three points in Boston’s 6-3 win over Dallas… On Wednesday, rookie Scott Timmins, who has 10-12-22 in 44 games for AHL Rochester in 2010-11, nabbed his first career NHL goal in Florida’s 3-2 loss at Montreal.
