LOOKING AHEAD:
Oklahoma City and Grand Rapids are each three points out of a playoff spot in their respective divisions and will go head-to-head tonight at Van Andel Arena… The teams split a two-game set in Oklahoma City last weekend, and this marks the Barons’ first visit to Grand Rapids since taking a 5-4 shootout win back on Oct. 29… This is stop two on a nine-game road trip for the Barons, who are trying to halt a 1-3-0-1 skid… Oklahoma City’s Colin McDonald has tallied a goal in three straight games (3-0-3) – after managing just one in his previous 14 outings – and his 28 goals for the season (28-14-42) are tied for fourth-most in the AHL… Alexandre Giroux ranks second in the league in points (66) and third in goals (29) for the Barons and has recorded a point in his last three AHL contests (0-3-3)… Barons rookie Mark Arcobello collected four points (2-2-4) in the pair of games vs. Grand Rapids last weekend… The Griffins enter this tilt boasting a seven-game points streak (6-0-1-0) and a 9-1-1-2 mark in their last 13 contests… Rookie goaltender Jordan Pearce has made 13 straight starts and is 9-2-2 (2.72, .912) with one shutout over that span… Francis Pare (3-2-5), Ilari Filppula (1-4-5), Tomas Tatar (0-4-4), and defenseman Doug Janik (1-3-4) are all riding three-game scoring streaks for Grand Rapids, which has scored four or more goals in eight of its last 10 games.

San Antonio, which is tied with Oklahoma City and also three points out of a playoff spot in the West Division, hosts Milwaukee tonight in the first of two straight home dates with the first-place Admirals… This marks Milwaukee’s first trip to the Alamo City since Nov. 28… The Rampage have just one win in their last five games but have earned at least a point in three of those five (1-2-1-1)… Mathieu Beaudoin has racked up six points (2-4-6) in his last three games for San Antonio and has a team-best seven points (2-5-7) in three games against Milwaukee this season… Randy Robitaille is on a three-game scoring streak (2-4-6) and shows 3-8-11 in 13 games since joining the Rampage… San Antonio forward Viktor Tikhonov also boasts a three-game scoring run (1-2-3) and has found the scoresheet in four of his last five contests (2-4-6)… The Rampage feature the AHL’s top-ranked power play (23.0 percent) but have just a 19.3 percent conversion rate at home compared with 27.3 percent on the road… Milwaukee rookie Gabriel Bourque snapped a four-game points drought with a pair of goals in Tuesday’s shootout loss in Houston… The Admirals remain without top rookie Blake Geoffrion (11-26-37) and top defenseman Jonathon Blum (7-27-34), both on NHL recall to Nashville.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton concludes a four-game trip through Canada tonight with a rematch against Manitoba, whom the Penguins beat by a 2-0 count on Tuesday… The Penguins have earned two shutouts on the trip and dropped a 5-4 shootout decision to Abbotsford in the other game… Geoff Walker scored the first goal vs. Manitoba on Tuesday and has now tallied the game-winner in each of Wilkes-Barre’s last three victories after totaling one decisive goal in 2010-11 prior to that… Ben Street also found the back of the net in Tuesday’s win, snapping the rookie’s drought of six straight games without a goal… Bryan Lerg is on a four-game scoring streak (1-3-4) for the Penguins, and rookie Keven Veilleux has an assist in his last three outings (0-3-3)… At 37-25-1-5 (80 points), Manitoba sits atop the North Division but is just four points from falling entirely out of the playoffs… The Moose are now just 1-4-0-0 in their last five home games dating back to Feb. 15… Moose forward Shawn Weller had recorded a point in three straight games (2-2-4) before he was held scoreless on Tuesday… Manitoba enters with the AHL’s second-best penalty-killing unit (85.9 percent).

ALUMNI WATCH:
Defenseman Jonathon Blum, who has 7-27-34 in 54 games for AHL Milwaukee this season, notched his second NHL goal of the year on Tuesday, but Nashville dropped a 4-2 decision to Los Angeles… Ben Lovejoy recorded a goal and former AHL All-Star Chris Kunitz had three assists to lead Pittsburgh past Ottawa, 5-1… Rich Peverley scored shorthanded and 2008 AHL All-Star Tuukka Rask made 34 saves as Boston edged Columbus, 3-2… Mattias Ritola, who shows 2-9-11 in just nine games for AHL Norfolk this year, scored twice on Monday to help Tampa Bay top Toronto, 6-2.
