LOOKING AHEAD:
A four-game winless skid (0-3-0-1) has sent Toronto tumbling to fifth place and out of a playoff spot in the tight North Division, but the Marlies have a chance to move back to a share of third tonight with a road win over Grand Rapids at Van Andel Arena… Toronto has totaled just four goals during the four-game slide since scoring six times in a 6-5 win at Rochester on Mar. 11… Rookie Nazem Kadri, who had been on a three-game goal-scoring streak (3-2-5), remains on NHL recall to the Maple Leafs… Marlies defenseman Korbinian Holzer halted a 42-game goal-scoring drought with his club’s lone marker in Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Adirondack… Christian Hanson has produced three points (2-1-3) in four appearances against Grand Rapids this season… Mike Zigomanis continues to lead Toronto with 47 points (14-33-47) overall but has been held off the scoresheet in three consecutive outings… The Griffins, who are wrapping up a five-game homestand, enter with a 9-1-1-0 mark in their last 11 games… Grand Rapids is 3-1-0-1 against Toronto for the year and took both prior meetings at Van Andel Arena, on Dec. 22 and Dec. 31… Leading scorer Ilari Filppula (20-42-62) is riding a six-game scoring streak (1-9-10) for the Griffins, and Francis Pare has a point in six of his last seven contests (5-3-8)… Grand Rapids is 17-9-0-4 against divisional opponents; Toronto is 16-21-1-3.

Holding just a one-point lead on Worcester for the Eastern Conference’s crossover playoff spot, Binghamton plays its game in hand on the Sharks tonight when in-state rival Syracuse visits the Broome County Arena for the first time since Jan. 7… The Senators are 5-1-0-0 thus far in the season series and have outscored the Crunch 29-8 in taking five straight wins since dropping a 2-1 decision back on Oct. 16… AHL leading scorer Corey Locke (20-60-80) is pacing the Senators with 12 points (2-10-12) in five games vs. Syracuse in 2010-11; no one else on the B-Sens has more than six points in the season series… Senators defenseman Derek Smith has registered a point in 11 of his last 12 AHL contests (3-9-12)… B-Sens rookie goaltender Robin Lehner (7-7-2, 2.81, .908) has two shutouts on the season, both against Syracuse; counterpart Barry Brust (27-17-1, 2.55, .925) is tied for the league lead with seven shutouts overall… Syracuse brings a three-game winning streak into town and is 7-2-0-0 in its last nine games… Rookie Kyle Palmieri nabbed the game-winning goal in all three Crunch victories last weekend and put up 6-1-7 in that span… Patrick Maroon has recorded four points (1-3-4) in his last two games, and rookie Nick Bonino shows three points (1-2-3) in his last two outings.

Looking to put the brakes on a three-game winless skid (0-2-0-1) and climb back into a playoff position in the West Division, San Antonio kicks off a five-game road trip tonight against last-place Rockford… This is the fifth meeting between the Rampage and IceHogs, and the first since Jan. 22; San Antonio is 3-1-0-0 in the season series… The Rampage have managed only five goals in their last four games overall, but their offense still ranks 10th in the AHL for the year (3.00 goals per game)… Mathieu Beaudoin has tallied a goal in two straight games (2-0-2) for the Rampage and has recorded four goals (4-1-5) in his last five outings… Former AHL MVP Randy Robitaille has produced 13 points (4-9-13) in 17 games since joining San Antonio’s lineup… The Rampage remain without leading scorer Brett MacLean (23-27-50), who has been on NHL recall to Phoenix since Mar. 4… San Antonio has scored the first goal in a league-low 26 games (17-7-1-1) out of 69 total… IceHogs forward Jassen Cullimore, a former Stanley Cup champion, is coming off a three-point effort (2-1-3) on Sunday at Grand Rapids… Rockford is beginning a three-game homestand before finishing with six of eight on the road.

ALUMNI WATCH:
In Tuesday’s action, 2009 AHL rookie of the year Nathan Gerbe scored both Buffalo goals and two-time AHL All-Star Ryan Miller posted a 31-save shutout as the Sabres topped Montreal, 2-0… On Sunday, rookie Blake Geoffrion, who shows 11-26-37 in 45 games with AHL Milwaukee this season, netted a hat trick to lead Nashville past Buffalo in overtime, 5-4… 2010 AHL All-Star P.K. Subban also notched a hat trick as Montreal rolled past Minnesota, 8-1.
