Hartford entertains Philadelphia on Wednesday night with a chance to make up ground on the rest of the Atlantic Division… The Wolf Pack are in last place in the seven-team group, but sit just 10 points behind co-leaders Portland and Providence after winning five of their last six games… Hartford has added 2006 Second Team AHL All-Star defenseman Thomas Pock and forward Jed Ortmeyer on conditioning loans from the parent N.Y. Rangers… Rookie Ryan Callahan has scored a goal in six straight games for the Pack, a team record… The Phantoms have lost seven of their last nine to fall two points behind sixth-place Binghamton in the East Division… Matt Ellison has six points in Philadelphia’s last three games (3g, 3a), and 11 points in 12 AHL contests this season.
After going 5-4-0-1 on a 10-game road swing, Milwaukee returns home to battle Grand Rapids on Wednesday night in the first of three meetings this week between the teams… The Admirals have won seven straight against the Griffins, including a four-game sweep in the 2006 Western Conference finals and an 8-1 rout at Van Andel Arena on Nov. 14… Rich Peverley is riding a five-game scoring streak for Milwaukee (2g, 7a), and Jason Guerriero has points in four straight (3g, 4a)… Karl Goehring is 3-0-1 in his last four starts overall for the Admirals, but is winless at the Bradley Center this year (0-3-0, 5.01, .806)… Grand Rapids captain Matt Ellis has five goals and an assist in his last four outings, and ranks fifth in the league with 104 shots on goal… Jimmy Howard has appeared in each of the Griffins’ last 14 games, and is 5-1-1 in his last seven decisions.
The Houston Aeros play the 1,000th regular-season game in franchise history on Wednesday when Manitoba visits the Toyota Center… Scott Arniel, a member of the Aeros’ inaugural team in the IHL (1994-95), returns to Houston as the rookie head coach of the Moose… Houston is winless in its last four games (0-2-0-2) after a pair of shootout losses to Omaha last week… Rookie Benoit Pouliot continues to lead the Aeros with 12 goals on the year, but has gone four games without recording a point… Manitoba is coming off back-to-back wins in Peoria last week, with Drew MacIntyre stopping 62 of 63 shots total… The Aeros rank 26th in the 27-team AHL on the power play (12.6%), while the Moose are second on the penalty kill (88.1%).
