On Wednesday night, Joel Martin made 23 saves in an emergency start, helping Norfolk to a 4-3 shootout win over Portland… Konstantin Zakharov and Charles Linglet each had a goal and an assist in Peoria’s 3-1 win over San Antonio… Mark Ardelan’s goal 1:47 into overtime gave Iowa a 2-1 victory in Milwaukee… Jason Jaffray and Lee Goren scored seven seconds apart in the opening minute of the game and Manitoba cruised to a 4-1 win over Omaha.

LOOKING AHEAD:
A pair of division leaders square off on Friday night as Manchester begins a four-game road trip with its first-ever visit to the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester… The Monarchs bring a 12-game winning streak with them, outscoring their opponents 43-19 during that stretch… The Americans, meanwhile, have lost four of five, including last Sunday’s 9-5 thumping in Hamilton… Michael Ryan had a hat trick in Sunday’s loss, and now shows 20 points (8g, 12a) in his last 13 games… Drew Stafford has picked up 15 points (6g, 9a) in nine games since returning from his most recent NHL stint in Buffalo… Noah Clarke leads the Monarchs with 12 points (5g, 7a) during their win streak… Manchester (19-0-2-1) and Rochester (19-0-0-0) are the only AHL teams without a regulation loss this season when leading after the first period.

Hamilton puts its 10-game points streak (8-0-1-1) on the line Friday when Toronto makes the trip down to Copps Coliseum… The Marlies have won three of their four visits to Steeltown this season, handing the Bulldogs nearly half of their eight regulation losses on home ice in 2006-07… Hamilton hits the weekend without league-leading goaltender Jaroslav Halak, recalled by Montreal on Thursday… Andrei Kostitsyn is on a nine-game scoring streak for the Bulldogs (8g, 9a), and Corey Locke had four points in Sunday’s 9-5 win over Rochester after tallying four points in 15 games prior… Erik Westrum, Chris Harrington and Colin Murphy have five points each in six games against Hamilton this season.

Bridgeport has several winning streaks on the line heading into Friday’s date at Harbor Yard with Lowell, the front end of a home-and-home series… The Sound Tigers have won five straight overall and six in a row on home ice, and have earned 11 consecutive W’s against teams from Lowell – including all three meetings with the Devils this season… Bridgeport has opened up a seven-point lead for the final playoff spot in the East Division, while Lowell comes in four points out of fourth place in the Atlantic… Bridgeport’s Wade Dubielewicz ranks third in the AHL with a .928 save percentage, and has faced at least 40 shots in eight of his last 12 starts… The Devils, 4-1-2-1 in their last eight games, got two goals from rookie Rod Pelley in last Sunday’s 3-2 overtime loss at Providence.
