Manitoba received goals from seven different players in a 7-1 home victory over Rochester on Wednesday, their sixth straight win over the Americans dating back to last season… Marty Sertich and Vojtech Polak each scored twice to lead Iowa to a 6-2 win at Lake Erie… Colin Fraser’s second straight two-goal night helped Rockford past Houston, 3-2… T.J. Trevelyan’s two tallies helped Providence to a 4-1 victory at Lowell.

LOOKING AHEAD:
Chicago and Rockford hook up for an in-state West Division battle on Friday night at Allstate Arena… The IceHogs bring a three-game winning streak into their first-ever meeting with the Wolves, who have won their first two games of the 2007-08 campaign… Colin Fraser scored four goals on six shots in Rockford’s victories over San Antonio and Houston this week, and is now tied with rookie Evan Brophey for the club scoring lead with five points… Forward Jason Krog (2-0-2) and defensman Brian Fahey (2-1-3) have accounted for four of the Wolves’ six goals this year… Rookie goaltender Ondrej Pavelec, who is 2-0-0 to start his professional career, has been recalled by the parent Atlanta Thrashers.

Something has to give in the City of Brotherly Love on Saturday night as 3-0-0-0 Providence visits the Wachovia Spectrum to take on 5-0-0-0 Philadelphia… The Phantoms are led in scoring by right wing Stefan Ruzicka (3-5-8), who has already earned two recalls to the parent Flyers this season… Rookie center Jonathan Matsumoto has recorded a point in every game for the Phantoms (3-4-7)… Darren Reid is tied for the league lead with four goals on the young season… Veteran goaltender Brian Boucher is off to a 4-0-0 start for Philadelphia while posting a 1.50 GAA… The Bruins, who are opening the season with 10 straight road games, sport a rookie goaltender in 2005 first-round pick Tuukka Rask, who has earned all three wins and allowed only five goals… Martins Karsums (1-3-4) has a point in all three games for the B’s.

The AHL’s two oldest teams lock horns this weekend when Hershey opens its 2007-08 home schedule against Rochester in the teams’ 431st all-time regular-season meeting… The Bears, who joined the AHL in 1938, enter the contest with an all-time record of 198-179-53 against the Americans, members since 1956… The franchises have combined for 36 Finals appearances and 15 Calder Cup titles but have gone head-to-head for the championship only once, with Rochester prevailing four games to one in 1965… Chris Bourque enters the weekend leading the Bears with four points (3-1-4), having scored half of Hershey’s first six goals on the year… The Amerks bring a three-game losing skid into their weekend opener vs. Manitoba on Friday before heading to Chocolatetown… Clarke MacArthur is pacing Rochester’s offense with six points (1-5-6) through seven games.

ALUMNI WATCH:
Petteri Wirtanen and Drew Miller, both recalled from Portland earlier this year, scored their first NHL goals in Anaheim’s 3-1 win over Nashville on Wednesday… 2006 AHL All-Rookie defenseman Daniel Girardi scored his first career NHL goal in the N.Y. Rangers’ 5-3 loss to Atlanta on Thursday… Also Thursday, two-time Calder Cup finalist Raffi Torres lit the lamp twice and was plus-3 in Edmonton’s 4-2 win at Phoenix… Flyers goaltender Martin Biron, a 1999 AHL All-Star with Rochester, posted two consecutive shutouts this week, stopping all 69 shots he faced against Atlanta and New Jersey.

7-0 — Scoring differential between the Manitoba Moose and their opponents in the third period of games this season… The Moose were one of the AHL’s stingiest third-period teams last year as well, allowing just 65 goals in the final frame.
