LOOKING BACK:
In Thursday’s action, Brandon Bochenski netted a pair of goals to help Norfolk edge Albany, 5-4… Chicago rallied from a 3-1 deficit and prevailed in a shootout over Iowa, 4-3… Kevin Lalande posted a 24-save shutout in his AHL season debut as Quad City blanked Houston, 5-0… Martin Gerber stopped 37 of 38 shots in net as Binghamton dropped San Antonio, 2-1… Judd Blackwater had a regulation and shootout goal to help Rockford over Manitoba, 2-1.

LOOKING AHEAD:
Hartford and Bridgeport kick off the post-All-Star break portion of their schedules with an intra-state clash on Friday at the XL Center in Connecuticut’s capital… Both clubs are tied for second place in their respective divisions, and each side has captured three wins thus far in the season series… The Wolf Pack boast two of the AHL’s top five scorers in Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau (19-30-49) and AHL All-Star Artem Anisimov (21-27-48), who enters the weekend on an eight-game scoring streak (5-6-11) and has seven points in six games against Bridgeport… The Sound Tigers have totaled just five goals in their last four games and are looking to avoid their first three-game winless skid of the season… AHL All-Star Mike Iggulden shows a team-high 46 points (18-28-46), and Trevor Smith paces the Sound Tigers with 22 goals… Bridgeport averages 2.64 goals against per game, the fourth-lowest total in the AHL.

Syracuse puts its four-game points streak (3-0-1-0) on the line when division rival Lake Erie invades the Onondaga County War Memorial at Oncenter on Friday… The Monsters took a 4-0 victory on Dec. 20 in their only previous visit to Syracuse this season… After struggling through December, the Crunch have gone 7-2-1-0 in their last 10 games to pull two points out of a playoff spot in the North Division… Derek MacKenzie (eight games, 3-5-8), Steve Kelly (five games, 4-2-6), and Aaron Rome (four games, 2-3-5) are all riding lengthy scoring streaks for Syracuse… Lake Erie goaltender Tyler Weiman (12-10-2) is tied for the league lead with five shutouts – including the Dec. 20 whitewash against the Crunch – and ranks fourth in goals-against average (2.32)… Philippe Dupuis has a point in four straight AHL games (2-3-5) for the Monsters, who enter tonight’s tilt nine points back of Syracuse in the standings.

Peoria and Iowa both look for separation in the West Division standings when they meet Friday and Saturday, their third home-and-home set of the season… The Chops have won four of five from the Rivermen in 2008-09, but are 2-5-0-1 in their last eight overall… Brian Salcido, Troy Bodie and Adrian Veideman all scored power-play goals for Iowa in Thursday’s 4-3 shootout loss at Chicago… Peoria has been idle since a 3-2 win in Houston on Jan. 24… Steve Regier scored twice and Chris Porter ended a 36-game drought with a goal in that victory… The Rivermen have scored 10 shorthanded goals this season, second-most in the AHL, and the Chops have surrendered eight on the campaign… Iowa enters the weekend tied for third place in the West, two points ahead of sixth-place Peoria.

ALUMNI WATCH:
On Thursday night, Peter Regin’s first career NHL goal broke a tie with 1:57 remaining and lifted Ottawa over St. Louis, 3-1… Kyle Okposo scored twice to help the N.Y. Islanders past Atlanta, 5-4… Chris Conner, who has 24 points in 25 AHL games with Peoria this season, netted his first NHL goal of the year in Dallas’ 4-2 win at Detroit… On Tuesday, Claude Giroux scored his first career NHL goal for Philadelphia in a 3-2 loss at Florida.


BY THE NUMBERS:
13 — Consecutive road games to be played by San Antonio beginning on Saturday in Worcester… The Rampage will visit 12 different cities and will not play at the AT&T Center again until Feb. 28, when they host Rockford.
