In Thursday’s action, Manitoba snapped a six-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over Syracuse… On Wednesday, Daniel Taylor made 35 saves for his second shutout in as many appearances as Manchester downed Worcester, 2-0… Janne Niskala scored once in regulation and netted the overtime game-winner as Milwaukee outlasted San Antonio, 5-4… Peoria erupted for five second-period goals in a 6-1 win at Rockford.

LOOKING AHEAD:
The top two teams in the West Division lock horns on Friday when Rockford (64 points) hosts Chicago (61 points) at the MetroCentre… Both teams are 7-3-0-0 in their last 10 games, and the home team has won all four meetings thus far… Rockford’s Martin St. Pierre (15-45-60) and Chicago’s Jason Krog (20-40-60) enter the contest tied for the league’s scoring lead… St. Pierre has a point in seven straight games (2-12-14) and 22 of his last 23 outings, while Krog boasts nine points (5-4-9) in four games against Rockford… Troy Brouwer paces the IceHogs with 21 goals and has lit the lamp in three of his last four games… Chicago defenseman Nathan Oystrick has a three-game scoring streak (1-2-3) and posted a goal and two assists against Rockford on Jan. 4… Wolves goaltender Ondrej Pavelec is 12-3-0 in his last 15 decisions… Chicago has the AHL’s second-best power play at 22.6 percent.

Hershey and Philadelphia meet in the regular season for the 136th time when the Bears visit the Wachovia Spectrum on Friday… Hershey has closed to within seven points of the first-place Phantoms in the East Division, and the Bears are 10-1-2-1 in Philadelphia since the start of the 2005-06 season… The Phantoms are just 1-4-0-1 in their last six games, but Ryan Potulny has tallied seven points (2g, 5a) in that time… Pete Zingoni has scored the game’s first goal seven times this season, tied for the most in the AHL… 2008 AHL All-Star Joe Motzko has picked up 17 points (4g, 13a) in 17 games for Hershey since returning from an NHL stint in Washington… Andrew Gordon has notched six goals in his last nine games after scoring once in his first 19… Defenseman Sami Lepisto is tied for third among all AHL rookies with his plus-14 rating.

Calgary’s top prospects make their first visit of the season to Canada when Quad City visits Hamilton (Friday, Cable 14) and Toronto (Saturday, The Score) this weekend… The QC Flames are 12-7-0-2 away from home this season, and sit just one point out of a potential playoff spot in the West Division… Grant Stevenson, the reigning Rbk/AHL Player of the Week, has potted 11 goals in his last nine games for Quad City, including a four-goal effort on Jan. 20 vs. Rochester… Carsen Germyn assisted on all four of Stevenson’s goals that night, but he has gone 18 games without scoring himself… Krys Kolanos has racked up 21 points (10g, 11a) in his last 15 contests for the Flames.

ALUMNI WATCH:
On Thursday, Rich Peverley scored his first career NHL goal in Nashville’s 4-3 overtime loss to Phoenix… Former AHL All-Stars Jason Spezza (2g, 1a) and Randy Robitaille (1g, 1a) helped Ottawa to an 8-4 win at Tampa Bay; another former AHL All-Star, Dan Boyle, scored twice for the Lightning in the loss… On Wednesday, 2006 AHL All-Star Valtteri Filppula netted the game-winning goal as Detroit edged Anaheim, 2-1.
