AHL Quick Hits: Moose, Griffins to tangle in Winnipeg

LOOKING BACK:
In a Tuesday matinee, Quad City defenseman Adam Pardy scored the eventual game-winner and Curtis McElhinney made 37 saves as the Flames won their third straight, 3-1 at Grand Rapids… Also Tuesday, David Spina scored a pair of goals, including the overtime winner, to lead San Antonio past Iowa, 3-2… On Monday afternoon, Thomas Greiss made 36 stops and Graham Mink netted the decisive shootout goal as Worcester defeated Springfield, 2-1.

LOOKING AHEAD:
The Providence Bruins, who went 8-1-1-0 on a 10-game road swing to open the season, drop the puck on their home schedule Wednesday night when they welcome Portland to a remodeled Dunkin’ Donuts Center… The P-Bruins are led by center Pascal Pelletier (3-9-12), who has a five-game scoring streak (3-5-8)… Rookie goaltender Tuukka Rask has won six of his first seven decisions… The Pirates enter tonight 6-1-1-0 in their last eight games but are winless on the road thus far (0-3-1-0)… Brandon Segal’s only two goals of the season came in Portland’s 4-3 overtime win over Providence on Nov. 10… Jonas Hiller made 41 saves in Portland’s 2-1 victory over Hartford on Sunday.

Also on Wednesday, Norfolk kicks off a four-game New England road swing at the Hartford Civic Center… The Admirals’ offense, ranked 26th in the league at 2.23 goals per game, got a boost Tuesday when veteran forwards Mathieu Darche and Craig MacDonald were assigned to the team from Tampa Bay… Jonathan Boutin (2-1-1) leads the AHL with a .943 save percentage on the season… Second-year pro Greg Moore paces the Wolf Pack in goals (7), assists (7), points (14) and plus/minus (+9) this year… Hugh Jessiman, the Rangers’ first-round draft pick in 2003, is carrying a three-game scoring streak (2-1-3), as is rookie Brodie Dupont (1-3-4).

Quad City visits Lake Erie on Thursday night for the teams’ second meeting in six days… The Flames have won three straight contests, including a 3-2 shootout victory in Cleveland on Saturday… Goaltender Curtis McElhinney, a 2007 Second Team AHL All-Star, has stopped 83 of 87 shots (.954) while winning his last three starts… Flames forwards Dustin Boyd (0-6-6), Carsen Germyn (4-1-5) and Grant Stevenson (2-3-5) and all have points in four of their last five games… The Monsters are still looking for their first-ever home win (0-6-0-1), and come in winless in four straight overall (0-2-0-2)… Lake Erie defenseman Stephen Margeson has three goals in his last two games, his first three career AHL points… David Jones has posted eight points (4-4-8) in his last eight games, and fellow rookie T.J. Hensick has five assists in his last five outings.

Stuck in a six-game winless skid (0-5-0-1), Grand Rapids gets back on the road and visits the MTS Centre on Thursday to take on Manitoba in the first of a two-game set… The Griffins are 5-1-0-1 away from home this season, including a pair of wins in Winnipeg last month… Rookie Darren Helm tallied his first pro goal in Grand Rapids’ 3-1 loss to Quad City on Tuesday… Mark Hartigan leads Grand Rapids with seven goals, while Mark Cullen’s 12 points pace the club in that category… Moose center Brad Moran is tied for the team lead with 12 points, including six (1-5-6) in his last five games… Rookie winger Mason Raymond has a goal in two straight outings for Manitoba.
