LOOKING BACK:
Iowa made it three wins in a row with a 3-1 victory over Houston in the Stars’ home opener on Thursday night… Chris Conner broke a tie midway through the third period and Dan Ellis stopped 29 shots for the win… Iowa is 19-4-0-2 in its last 25 regular-season outings.

LOOKING AHEAD:
Chicago and Milwaukee renew their fierce rivalry as they begin a 10-game season series with a home-and-home this weekend… The Wolves opened their 2006-07 campaign with a convincing 5-0 win in Peoria on Oct. 7, while the Admirals dropped a 7-1 decision to Omaha at home that same night… Darren Haydar, who scored 110 goals over the last four seasons in a Milwaukee uniform, returns to the Bradley Center on Friday as a member of the Wolves… Haydar also paced the Admirals in playoff scoring in their trips to the Calder Cup Finals in 2004 and 2006… Ramzi Abid, Chicago’s leading scorer in 2005-06, now skates for Milwaukee… Alexander Radulov, a first-round draft pick in 2004 and the Canadian Major Junior Player of the Year last season, scored a goal in his pro debut for the Admirals last weekend.
 
Rochester has stormed out to a 2-0-0-0 start, outscoring the opposition by a 12-3 margin in those two games… The Americans face off against Binghamton in a weekend home-and-home, the 239th and 240th regular-season meetings between the cities all-time… Third-year pro Daniel Paille leads Rochester with five points on the year (1g, 4a), and the Amerks’ young corps of defensemen has allowed only 20.5 shots on goal per game… The Senators split the first two games of the season, defeating Syracuse and falling to Bridgeport… Jeff Heerema scored three times in those two contests for the Sens… Grant Potulny notched seven goals in eight games against Rochester in 2005-06.
 
Eighteen months after they last got to cheer on their team, fans at the DCU Center welcome the Worcester Sharks onto the ice for their inaugural home opener against Portland on Saturday… The Sharks earned three of a possible four points last weekend without the benefit of ever playing with a lead, defeating Portland and falling to Manchester, both in shootouts… Rookie Dan Spang scored in the final minute of regulation against the Pirates, while Mathieu Darche did the same against the Monarchs… Joe Pavelski, an All-American at the University of Wisconsin last year, is tied for the Worcester team lead with four points… The Sharks’ three-game weekend also includes a visit to Providence on Friday and a trip to Lowell on Sunday.

On Thursday night, Brian Gionta scored three times in the third period as New Jersey rallied for a 7-6 shootout win over Toronto… Ryan Whitney scored two third-period goals to help Pittsburgh past the N.Y. Rangers, 6-5… Ryan Smyth and Jonathan Cheechoo each had a natural hat trick during Edmonton’s 6-4 win over San Jose… Jeff Hamilton netted the winning goal in Chicago’s 3-1 win over Nashville.
